    Hello BHW,

I started a client SEO site within the last few weeks. It targets a certain type of medical professional, i.e. dentist, dermatologist, veterinarian, etc. I am thinking about building a few sites in the same niche to serve as both link sources and income sources. I am thinking about building an affiliate site and a .org site in this niche. Any thoughts?

    Thanks,

    - Saint

If you have to ask what to do, you shouldn't be providing any SEO services in the first place.

dont be so hard. 99% of "seo agency" dont have a clue what they do and cash $$$$ - and do the "you need a mobile optimi$$ed new site" pitch..

So does your client know that you have no experience in seo and you run the risk of screwing his rankings and possibly his business up ?

I wouldn't harp on OP because he's a newbie pushing SEO. Kid has to learn somehow and he had the opportunity to grab his first paid client. I think any of us would have done the same. That said, sounds like he has a lot of reading to do.

I worked in the crappy ad agency world for many years. Always taught to say YES anytime a client asks "Can you guys do (task)." Even if you don't offer what they are asking for, say YES confidently and talk like you're an expert on the matter. Then walk out of the meeting and figure out how to make it happen. Happens all the time in the ad agency world.

    That doesn't make it right.

I don't do press releases. I had a few people ask me if I wrote them. I honestly told them no. I never could get the hang of it, figure out the formula, etc.

I'd rather they pay someone to do the job right than pay me to do something I have no fucking clue about.

If I fuck up their business or don't deliver what they were expecting, I just wasted valuable time and probably pissed off a client. We could have both been doing something else, and I won't have to deal with bad reviews or Ripoff Reports when things go to shit.

Then again, I'm not desperate or greedy.

The lying aspect doesn't seem ethical. I agree. But from a business perspective, you have the opportunity to capture more dollars. Additionally, most agencies will immediately go out and find the right subcontractor for that portion of the project, which builds the agency's subcontractor network, increases their capabilities statement, and may lead to new clients in that new area. It's how business in the agency world has been done for ages, and it's one way agencies grow their business.

That's fine. But this kid isn't an agency. He's one person, and he clearly has no idea what he's doing.

This is someone's livelihood he's playing with.

Maybe he can start by experimenting on his own sites instead of fucking up someone else's.

This is why SEO has such a shitty rep.

But it's not me. So whatever.

    i mean. honestly.

when he got no clue at all (as most SEO dudes) and he is to broke to set up his own PBN to test shit and ideas (like the pros do), he should at least stay away from any off page stuff..

OP: get a seobility account. fix the on page errors.
get ahrefs. try to copy competitors links

    charge 1k.

invest into your first own projects...

thats the usual clients going to "SEO companies" here in germany.. and then, those ripped off and burned clients come to me.
and are faster gone then FLASH when I tell them what siroous off page costs..
