Just lost $2000 on Flippa =(

Next day - still no revenue or clicks. I started looking a little deeper on the stats, and 95%+ was purchased traffic... He comforted me and said it will keep coming, it is not paid for, etc.
When I asked him if it was a scam he stopped answering my E-mails.

So yes, I could go back and wish I wouldn't have released the money, wish I would've done better research etc. But I guess I still have faith in humanity (dumb mistake).

Flippa = A cornucopia of scammers. Build your site from the ground up and you won't ever have to worry about your traffic being "real".

It's a shame OP, but that's exactly why I stay away from Flippa auctions.

First red flag is 2k price for 600/per month revenue. Waaay to low. For this revenue is should have been at least 6k. So it fits in category 'To good to be true'
But its better to loose 2k and get lesson, than loose 20k! Dont loose faith in humanity (however be careful) and good luck!

This kinda reminds me of one time I lost over 2k because I got scammed (not flippa though). However, I think you shouldn't be too disappointed. I was at first, but then I realized something else... I NEVER EVER made overly emotional decisions afterwards, and I always double checked everything. Just think of it, maybe you just saved yourself a lot more cash in the future, by not making the same mistake for something even more expensive. The lesson has a lot of value I think.

Which sites would you recommend, by the way? I've been browsing Flippa every now and then with intention to buy a site or two at some point, but always kind of have issues in not being able to tell whether the seller is bullshitting or not...
 
sorry i know the most sell on flippa is scam ...first read the seller profile see her activity before to buy

And of course, that's why your revenue was 7 figures in January. The increasing scams on Flippa is causing people to look toward trusted brokers who do their research before listing a website for sale. Sure, they charge 10%+, but at least you won't get scammed.

OP, no good deed goes unpunished. That's what you get for being the good guy and releasing early.
 
Flippa etc has always seemed dodgy to me.

If you're going to be spending $2000, I'd recommend getting a pretty complex site programmed to your exact specifications and building it up from scratch.
 
Don't feel too bad. I lost double that on flippa a couple of years back. Flippa don't care and won't help you as they have already made their commission and that's all they care about... Hard lesson learnt and just look on the bright side... It could have been more. Karma will get that arsehole one day and flippa...
 
To OP, I'm sorry that happened.

Don't feel bad though, I'm sure you'll make that money back in no time. I was scammed awhile back on Ebay for a site I thought was going to make me a "full-time" income.
