just in case you were wondering................

have you tried turning it off and on again?

I like Windows 8. On Windows 8.1 currently and don't see the big deal. Takes a couple of hours to get used to the new GUI. Is it really that difficult to figure out? Though I would like an easy way to get into safe-mode.

I started out going on the internet/BBS and playing games on DOS.

All I've ever known is Vista....pray for my lost soul please.

Jees it must take you three days to start the thing. I hated Vista so much I needed eyebrow surgery after headbutting the table so often.

In fact I hate Microsoft so much I could pull my scrotum up and use it as blinkers.

I guess i'm in the minority but I like Windows 8. I'm not going to sit here and compare it better/worse than other versions of Windows but I have no complaints since I upgraded at work and home. I especially love the snap feature on my work computer with my 3 monitors :)

Install start menu 8, it makes it more bareable.

and now it locks me out of my own computer - I need a windows password to turn the fucking thing on.

Welcome back 7!!!

Yeah, sure. Go for a Ubuntu without GUI.

Win 8 is just a fine system and works better than others.

Vista had so many problems, I kept XP Service Pack 3 for a long time. Then jumped straight to Windows 7. Looked at windows 8, realized I could not run half of my software on it, then "downgraded" immediately to Windows 7.
lololoolollloolo I was going to write exactly the same. Kept windows 8 for 1 week and throwed my harddrive through the window (lliterally!)

Is there any way to upgrade to Windows 7 from Vista without an external hard drive and without losing all my stuff?

The only thing that you need to backup is your stuff in C drive(that includes things stored on desktop). Use DVD/pen drive to install windows onto C.

windows 8 (.1) is cool on a windows phone, at least it feels ok

I love 8.1 tho.

Replaced system with new motherboard and CPU, changed from intel to AMD, reconnected drives, booted up and worked seamlessly without windows reinstallation.

Never happened to me before on any other OS, incredible
