marketplace sellers, check your telegram for scammers posing as you.

When a marketplace seller writes down telegram account in the marketplace, a scammer will soon register an identical name.

For example: telegram : iamhandsome

Then the scammer's telegram will be: iamhandsomee

And the scammers will use the photo on your BHW as their telegram photo

And most scammers will use the following format to name their telegram name:

1: (BHW Name) BHW (Your specific service) service
2: (BHW Name) Support
....

Sadly this happens quite often... Always good to make people aware of such scams.

One red flag about it is the scammer is making the first contact.

Good post, in BHW there have many posts about Telegram accounts clone. make sure you have authentic blue mark on your telegram. I am also finding this solution to protect my customers from scammer.

Ironically you should have seen the same threads in dispute resolution popping up from the now-banned member I think that had a similar name to yours, lol

There have been sellers on BHW that are trying to use this "scam" as an excuse to scam a couple of hundred bucks from their clients. Its always people that have a low post count, and have just turned jr VIP then suddenly started an ads account service and are promoting their telegram.

If you, as a seller, are using TG as a point of contact for sales you are absolutely opening yourselves up to people impersonating you.

That is a scammer's paradise.

Setting up a website with the ability to handle that is about a 2 hour job and costs about as much as a pizza.

honest question: why do u sell by telegram and not by here?

That's an old trick...

I can only recommend to sellers/buyers never to post their usernames like this @test rather use a URL from your Telegram username in your posts.

Anyway, Telegram is a playground for scammers, it should be avoided unless you have OBS studio turned on 24/7/365.

Just wanted to say, it is not rare method for scammers, especially on forums like this (it could be used via mail and other platforms either). Even though I had met similar type of scam before I read it here, new users could be confused how many "sellers" are hitting PM when they have an opportunity to do so.
Good point for reminding abt that scam, OP. ;)

This happens a lot, that's why it's always adviced to trade within bhw. Once you are not it will be difficult to prove the real or fake seller

But the whole point of me becoming a Jvip is to promote:weep:

I do both. I also tried, whatsapp/skype. but no one came to me through these contacts.
If the seller has their TG posted in their sales thread as a point of contact, whoever is going to buy, or scam, from them will make the first contact.
I often see you dealing with disputes and have a question for you, will I receive a penalty on the forums if someone else impersonates me to cheat someone else. Because I remember one time the impersonator cheated someone else out of $1800, but ultimately it was this seller who was responsible for the refund (if I remember correctly...)
use a URL from your Telegram username in your posts.
It's a good suggestion to create a couple of buttons and have buyers click on the buttons to contact the seller.
hitting PM
People like to be on the favorable side of things, and communicating in forums may not be as convenient as chat software.

so someone scam on telegram with matching of your username and then you notice that

also you can post in your thread about those scammers with screenshot so people will not fall on that

I always ask to send PM on BHW. If he PM me on BHW then I go further. Otherwise no.

People are slagging off telegram but this thing also use to happen on Skype too.
People using the same method as they do now with telegram.
If people want to scam others they will. The medium they use will change as time goes on.
