Last time I had a bitcoin was when I sold off my entire stock in a frenzy at $40 or so.

I just bought some today, as I feel they will continue to increase in value in the coming weeks and months, potentially at a much more rapid rate than ever before.

What do you think? Post your predictions. Have any BTC? Bought any recently, or am I a sucker?

That's a volatile market, bro. Best of luck to you. Hopefully your investment performs better than my VFINX one.

It plateau'd on most of 2015 so I don't think it's going down that level but is it going up? The bump near the end of the year seems to be following the strengthening of the USD with some months of lag.

A mighty gamble you just made OP. No one can predict what's going on with BTC. Wait for the next spike and drop it all.

The chart looks as though it will continue to move up... I used to study charts when I messed with commodities and that is one that has a positive look to it.

It has been years since I was "investing" (it was really gambling) in them but that is the sort of line movement in a chart that would appeal to those that went long back in the day.

The block halving in mid 2016 is expected to have a positive effect on the price.
The best bet would be invest now and forget until the end of the year, you won't be disappointed.
Bought few when it was trading at around 330$ :D

I bought 100+ BTC back to 2013 when the price is $600.00
I should just sell it once it goes $1000.00

Due to greediness, and thinking it will jump into $2000.00 .. and now ... u bet?

Well, by seeing the chart from 2014-2015 and 2016 .. I dont think I really made the mistake.

I believe it will reach $600 back ... and $1000+ soon one day.

Then I will just sell it all... my BTC.

Nice, hopefully you will get profit.

I used to do a bit of BTC trading in the form of arbitrage between two (now defunct) exchanges - Trade Hill and MtGox.

I should get back into a bit of it now....

    BEST OF LUCK OP!

You are supposed to buy LOW and sell HIGH, not the other way around ;)

    Here's my take..

Bitcoin is the currency of the future, if you miss it now you'll be kicking yourself later. I was interested in bitcoin when they were $50 each, but did not invest at the time. I think about it often and have since made an investment.

As others have already mentioned, halving is going to bump the price of bitcoin towards mid year, around that time adoption will flourish and more people will get into bitcoin and give up fiat entirely.

This adoption wave could happen faster if the stock market continues to crash at the rate it is currently and as more companies begin to accept bitcoin as a form of payment.

Another thing that I find interesting about bitcoin is that it has been used as a safe haven in cases of economic collapse.

A good example of this is the Cyprus "bank holiday" bailouts of 2013 which left many people unable to access their money for weeks. Depositors at the Bank of Cyprus were literally looted 47.5% of their savings exceeding 100,000 Euros. The worlds first bitcoin ATM was introduced in Cyprus during this time and those who held their funds in bitcoin were able to pay for food and other tangible goods that were not available to those with money in the banks (because they could not get access to their money).

My prediction: $1200 - $2000 at peak at the mid year due to halving, towards the end of the year prices will continue to rise, then going into the new year prices will fall and stabilize around $600-$1000.

I think it's a solid buy. It's got lots of room for growth, price wise.

There is never a dull moment in bitcoin though. The debates, personalities, and characters involved never seem to amaze me. Better than most soap operas.

I bought a bunch when they were $30, mostly to set someone up on the Silk Road. That cost 50BTC. And I never ended up using it, which of course was shut down. I forgot about them for the longest time until they were $100-$200. I sold 10-20 of them. THen it sky rocketed up. Funny a girl I know who knows nothing about them asked to buy $200 worth from me. This was when it was at it's peak. Literally within a week is when it crashed. I still have ten left. I'm in Canada so they are worth $600 right now which is nice. Kinda want to put quartz in my kitchen, but I'm too cheap to spend a few grand to do it, but kinda feel like the BTC I have is free money, so can justify it a bit!

But its better when you have at least some kind of influence under the project.
Best is when you control the most part of it giving you a huge edge over others ;)

I'm willing to admit I was wrong, if at a later stage I happen to be wrong about this, but I don't think cryptocurrency is, or ever will be the "currency of the future".

Maybe it's not as popular here in South Africa, but the only people who really seem to be interested in it are those twins from the Social Network, and people who bought bitcoins too late after the price initially skyrocketed.

This is not to say I don't think money can be made here. I just see it as a gimmicky bit of hype that will never become mainstream enough to really replace any established currency in a meaningful way.

I saw the post before you deleted it. And the only thing I wondering is how fast were you going to get a ticket over $1000? Damn, where I'm from I'm pretty sure at that point they'd just yank my license for a while
