A SEO guy who has a decent sized seo company has given me his so called newest "Killer" Tip!

It goes like this: He said he gets No1 for very hard keywords for non-local targated sites because he says the key to this is Getting Links From as many different Countrys as possible.

The key is: As a site say selling to an audience worldwide, if you are good and trustworthy you will get links from all over. Not just one or two specified countrys. Which i agreed with as he said that G0og1le are now focusing on this more than ever as people who spam do so from within one country etc.

What do youu you think of this, is there any weight to this?

It makes sense to me but what do you think? he says he and his team have done experiments and this is one of his major tasks for ranking now. He said balance the countrys out by how many links you get. But get as many countrys as possible.

Please give me a Thanx if possible

Disagree. You will get more traffic but it wont be search engine traffic, it will be click thrus from high traffic foreign blogs and forums.

My ranking advice, as the White Hatters say: "Just write great content and your rankings will increase."

Sounds like something to think about and surely to try to add to your SEO strategy to diversify your backlinks.

"Killer" Tip! Does that guy use anymore misleading dodgy words in his sales spiel...

I would never qualify or quantify his tips as "Killer"

They are at best just another out of millions of SEO options...

International links help rank sites in the US. It's been proven time and time again. More recently with high PR Russian links. The key is High PR links. Obviously crap links from any country won't really work.

A link is a link. That hasn't changed and won't change. If an Australian site thinks a US site is good, they will link to it. Only for local/geographic keywords will Google care where the link originates.

I actually did this for a medium comp keyword about a year ago, site got slapped a few months ago, but it did stick at 1 - 3 for about six months. Could not quite say if it was by using links from as many countries as I did, but it could have been. Might give it another go on a fresh site with no seo, to see what happens. All the links I gave to the site was just through blog comment spam, as it is easy to find as many different countries as you like with blog commenting.

The key is to get backlinks period. However, I do agree that a natural link profile would have backlinks from different countries... I am not sure if this is only for G.com tho. Because if your website is from Brazil probably you dont need backlinks from canada? Like your friend well said, if you are building a local country website its better to get a good % of these backlinks comming from that country TLD.
