Ok guys dont get upset but this post will not be a rosey one. One of my buddies from high school has been working at the Big G for about 10 months. He shall remain nameless for obvious reasons.. I have been trying to squeeze information out of him pretty much the entire time he's been with them. Well, he finally caved.

This is coming from G-apparently they think affiliates do more harm than good for the web in general. I always suspected they hated us-just didnt want to actually believe it. Lately, there has been more and more affiliates getting hit with the banhammer. I'm not just talking about adwords ban-but organic search results as well. Most of the affiliates affected are blackhatting sure-but many are simply making too much money. I will explain. When affiliates start making a killing-the publisher wonders why not just copy the affiliates methods-and simply cut him/her out of the equation.

G wants the searching user to find the info or product in as few clicks as possible. This maximizes the user experience-creating a win win for G, surfer, and publisher. They believe the affiliate aka middleman, simply confuses the user and extends the search longer than it needs to be. At the beginning, affiliates served a very good purpose-growing the size of the web by adding content and networking connections. These days however, most of the topics have been covered and there is simply too much information that ultimately leads to the same publisher(s).

G is also getting ready to crack down on content spinning, rehashing, and scraping. It is sad to say but we as affiliates are becoming endangered-in the US anyway. In other countries, G is encouraging affiliates to pretty much do the same thing we did here in the US-GROW That particular corner of the web.

If you ask my opinion, we should start creating our own products in low competition niches-rather than auto-blogging, or funneling traffic to publishers. Who says WE can't be publishers??

Guess the internet is not as big as we thought?! Crazy stuff. Anyone care to comment??

I can cosign this post a family member of mines works for google, and she told me the same thing maybe 7 months ago, I just chose to ignore it. At the time the information was just too far fetched for me to grasp, but since u brought it up I can go along with it, she said the same thing or somewhere along the lines of what your saying. I remember when i talked to her she asked me "what are u doing nowadays" and I told her affiliate marketing right after that she said "oh we hate ya'll...at that time i didn't know she worked for google...so I asked her "who is WE" she said google, then she explained she been working for google for the last past 6 years..then she went into a big spill about affiliate marketing etc, I can recap the convo but i can recap that so what the OP is saying could very well be true.

I must say, you post is made out of real and valid information, for which I can confirm also, from related sources. But it's something that even the big G, can't handle us all, because we are too many already each one with it;s own different techniques and approaches. Things will change in time, but definitely, this isn't the Google's biggest problem.

IMHO, web became what it became and whoever adapts faster will be the winner. If Google fails to adapt, someone else will.

Right now, Google, in its fight against content farms hurts the experience of normal users. In the past months I have to implement all my knowledge in Google search syntax in order to find the information I need. It comes to the point where I switch to Bing because Google fails to deliver - something I never did before.

Sadly Bing fails to deliver also, and this is why Google is still part of the game. Affiliates may be add clicks, but part of their content eventually leads to the place I need. Google wants less clicks you say? Well, the content I am being exposed to with a single click, is by far worser than the affiliate content.

man Big G is turning into more like Big Brother, they just don't understand that these companies wouldn't be making as much money if it weren't for hard working affiliates.

I absolutely agree with you! This country is so great because we have many more options than most of the world. There is no such thing as TOO MANY OPTIONS imo!! Google will grow too big to stand up-and they will fall.

We need to start diversifying AWAY from the reach of Google. They have too much influence and control over OUR money!

The way g looks at it is that if there was no other affiliates then everyone would use there adsense and have to jump through there hoops

I have commented a thread about this already. A "specialist" from Big G called me to set up my account (while I have been using them for almost 3 years (until the ban-hammer ride on me). He wanted me to have my own site instead of a 3rd party one. I create a mini blog, and then 2 days later, I got banned. Since them I just ask then to go to hell. Wtf?!?!?!!

When one door closes, another one opens. Rather than lamenting the death of the affiliate model, embrace the HUGE opportunity this opens up for people who can put their own good products out there. With affiliates out of the way, there are HUGE gaps in the market out there waiting to be filled.

Free yourself from the shaving, shitty sales pages, traffic stealing and general thievery of affiliate programs!

That's a lie..Your friend is pulling your leg, really!

If Google hated affiliate there would be no Google Affiliate Network. Google makes money from affiliates, they owe a big part of there success to affiliates..They just hate thin affiliates they don't write content and copy everything word from word.

I agree with the logic the OP mentioned that web is getting too much cluttered with the "junk content" by affiliates. But as Autumn said, we have another opportunity infront of us.

Every challenge g brings is an opportunity for affiliates to initiate new ways of beating them. As g wants to make money from internet users, so are affiliates. There will always be new ways to beat them until another big player comes around to really reduce the importance of g

Well I always hate big Gay and I agree with the friend above that said that the content is getting worse by the day. At least in the search results, so I started using alternatives. Maybe it is time for a new Search Engine which is also affiliates friendly.

What kind of affiliate website does g hates? Is it those one page product review websites?how about websites that actually have useful info and of value to user with a few links and banners pointing out to the actual product? I can't see how g can totally eliminate affiliates. Moving to another search engine will be difficult. Users are accustomed to g already
