    Intro-

So I have been a long time lurker on this forum struggling to make any money online. I have made some money, but I have never been focussed always jumping onto the bandwagon of the next big thing. I have a couple of websites tried the authority website route, siloing etc They all rely on one thing and that's Google. I have spent god knows how much on SEO guru's hoping to get a sniff at the prize to no avail.

Which leads me on to media buying. The majority of my money had come through clickbank so I thought I would give that another go. I have read a couple of threads lately explaining the process of media buying and what it entails. I thought looks easy enough but I could not be further from the truth. Very steep learning curve hence why this post. This thread is for me to stay focussed but hopefully help other people learn from my mistakes, and also along the way hopefully get some like minded people to help me along should I get stuck.

Things I have done so far.

So I know its all about tracking and fine tuning the campaigns to make money. So at present I have a basic Voluum account which is free. In my opinion its not very noob friendly so I have spent the last week working out how to create a sales funnel and to track it. So I now have a campaign ready. I have also bought optimise press for the landing page creation. Its bugging me at present as when you save the page it keeps removing the buttons and the shortcodes. Any Ideas?

I have also joined SiteScout. For no other reason other than it takes $500 to join. This will keep me focussed as I want my money back, I understand that I will most likely lose it all but I have prepared myself mentally to throw $1000 in total at it. The bonus being the exchange rate its not as costly for a UK resident. Credit card is in review.

I have created 2 landing pages on my limping authority site. The lander has a video and basic spiel and call to action. Nothing fancy I want the user to click away from my site.

I have set voluum up so that it rotates; direct links, Lander1 and Lander 2
I was going to get fancy and also add in another related offer. But I thought this may confuse me with the statistics. I'm a believer of the KISS method.

I want to capture the users for re-marketing but for some reason site scout wont let me create folders. I assume its due to the account not being funded?

    Questions for you/thoughts.

My question now once sitescout funds my account. Do I run my adverts against one site which is highly targeted to my landing pages? Or do I RON and let it fly? The website has over 50,000 page views/day so there is enough traffic. Though it will eat through my budget if I'm not careful.

    Rules for me

I'm going to let each advert get at least 10,000 impressions before making a cut.

The CTR has to be over 0.1 for it to stay.

If the adverts get click through's and no sales - Change the offer

If the adverts get no clicks - Change the advert

If the adverts are getting no impressions - raise the bids

    My tuning rules.

Adverts - Keep building and designing along same themes as high CTR ones.

LP - Build on the successful LP only changing 1 thing at a time for a good split test.

Offer - Change until offer becomes successful.

Analyse the stats try to find demographics and times etc so I can only target converting people.

    My concerns -

I don't want to lose focus and blow my budget in one go. Although I will set a budget over the total campaign to 3x the offer payout does this sound correct?

I'm not capturing user emails at present but I'm trying to capture them for re-marketing through SiteScout.

I don't really like Voluums layout. I would prefer a visual builder so I can see the sales process. I know funnel flux is around but its to expensive for me at the moment. Any others out there that do not cost so much?

I'm concerned that I have not been able to spy on competitors but the likes of what runs where are to expensive at present. I have used similar web etc to get a peak at LP but not adverts

My gimp skills are useless. The adverts are only text with backgrounds changed colours. In anyone's experience does this matter?

Sorry for the long post. I will be back once my credit card has been approved and I unleash the campaign.

    Thanks

Good luck, from my experience with facebook ads, color does matter, i always make 30-40 variations of the same text and colored background ad. A few days in and then you can eliminate most of them,I use gimp. But i have no idea how the ads in the network you are going to buy traffic from.

Right sorry for the long delay. I work away from home and forgot my laptop.

So where I'm at, the campaign is now all setup and has been submitted for approval. I have set a budget of $50 and a CPM of $3. I'm just trying to test if the tracking has been setup on the funnel. I have 10 banners loaded though I'm still confused on how to track each Ad performance.

One thing to note if you are having trouble saving re-targeting audience and general sitescout behaviour turn ad-block plus off on your browser. Lesson learnt.

A side note I travel a lot in a car I highly recommend audible it makes the journeys fly by. I would also highly recommend the first book you should get with your free download. Its called "influence" by Robert Cialdini its amazing how easy it is to manipulate humans we are certainly creatures of habit. I have been trying to get into the human mind and have found many ideas on how we can get humans to act. I now understand why sales copy is written like it is. Its now just digesting the information and coming up with ideas on how to implement it.

Little did I know just by creating this thread it will motivate me to complete my goals hopefully successfully. Those who have read the book will understand.

Once the ad's have hopefully been approved I will turn the campaign on.

    Thanks

Right my campaign is now live. I have won 2 impressions so far at $3 CPM. I'm not to sure what this means do those impressions mean that I have used 2000 views? Or as its says the ads have been shown twice?

I have upped the CPM slowly to try win more impressions I dont want to blow through the $50 if I dont have too.
