Hello everyone!
I am not a native English so I am using a translator to help, even so I believe that the translation is not 100% correct but I hope you understand.
My idea is to create a Quiz site, as I have some knowledge in FE I will try to create my own site, do you agree? Or is it better to use WP for SEO reasons, etc.?
I must develop with VueJs or ReactJs.

I have some questions:
Is it worth doing? I mean, does it still work? I'm not looking to be rich with this, just being able to make some money while improving my skills.

To learn about SEO what do you recommend? What links? Books? White or black SEO? (What's the difference ?)

In relation to the host / domain something cheap or even free to start? Which domains should I use and which should I avoid? (.com .au .co .xyz .io etc)

To do "advertising" to begin with, is one IG account and another FB account enough? Of course, I can also go to TikTok and more.
In these accounts, should I use photos of people or can I use a photo / logo from the website?

Regarding the quiz questions, I was thinking about creating a database and making API requests, is that good or bad for SEO and ADS approval? Because when creating the API the page itself will be practically empty, it will only have the structure and the requests.

Should the quiz be just one niche or can I have several on the same site / domain? (Example, http://www.quizsite.com /gamesCategory -> * several games *, /moviesCategory -> * several movies *, etc.)

Which ADS recommend me to use? Google ADS or others? I can't have several right?

Did I forget something important?
What information am I missing?
Do you want to share something with me to help me?

Most important, from where do you think I should start?

Thank you and I hope to have positive and constructive responses

Cheers,
Ussagui

So there's a lot of questions to unpack in this post. If I miss anything I'm sure @Jammy0308 or @se900se can help further.

First off, yes. It still works.

For domain if you're in a pinch godaddy offers dollar .com deals for new users. Get a .com domain.
You should get paid hosting, the free options are pretty bad unless you use something like github pages and you cant really make a quiz site on those. I mean you could but itd be an irritating feat of tediousness.

So if you're a beginner in terms of website building I'd go with wp and go from there. I haven't touched seo in terms of quiz sites because google doesn't really like them all that much, adsense banned me early on cause most of my traffic was "invalid" when all my traffic was coming from social sources.

The api idea is neat but from a technical standpoint that's not how you'd do that. Since you display a lack of technical understand here I reccomend just using wp and building your knowledge pool until you know the proper approach.(just use a data base and pull a random question )

I reccomend your quiz site have a theme. Weather its multi niche or not doesn't matter imo but a theme is good. Think IQ, personality, etc.

I personally use a mixture of ads run by hoologanmedia.com @se900se runs this service, and a few affiliate offers on my site. As I said earlier adsense banned me early on and I haven't looked back.

I reccomend you look into making social media presence for your quiz site and brand it and get the name out there before paid ads. I also pretty much only do fb ads but I know @Jammy0308 does shout outs and has some decent success with it.

Start by making a site and social profiles. Then get some traffic and add ads.

Welcome to the forum. Good luck with your journey

There are some questions there so others my twopence:

I have some questions:
Is it worth doing? I mean, does it still work? I'm not looking to be rich with this, just being able to make some money while improving my skills.

They are definitely worth doing and I can imagine that they will be around for a long time. People like enjoyment and entertainment.

Look at the different journeys on here there is some great advice contained within.

To learn about SEO what do you recommend? What links? Books? White or black SEO? (What's the difference ?)

I wouldn't worry too much on SEO most of your traffic will come from social media. You should look at growth hacking though.

In relation to the host / domain something cheap or even free to start? Which domains should I use and which should I avoid? (.com .au .co .xyz .io etc)

Depends where you are targeting but for the main site I would say a .com .org or .net.[/QUOTE]

To do "advertising" to begin with, is one IG account and another FB account enough? Of course, I can also go to TikTok and more.
In these accounts, should I use photos of people or can I use a photo / logo from the website?

This really depends in what method you are using but yet one can suffice.

For images look at royalty free stock photos, there are plenty of sites out there.

Regarding the quiz questions, I was thinking about creating a database and making API requests, is that good or bad for SEO and ADS approval? Because when creating the API the page itself will be practically empty, it will only have the structure and the requests.

Think you might he overthinking go with wordpress and most plugins allow you to out a bank of questions into the plugin.

Should the quiz be just one niche or can I have several on the same site / domain? (Example, www.quizsite.com /gamesCategory -> * several games *, /moviesCategory -> * several movies *, etc.)

This is completely up to you.

You could have a mega site with quizzes on or a niche dedicated quiz site.

You can still have multiple quizzes on one subject.

Let's say the TV show friends you can have quizzes on

General knowledge
Episodes
Locations
A separate quiz for each main character, minor character and special guests.
Then you can questions about the actors
Christmas specials etc etc etc

This smaller site would naturally attract fans of friends but you could keep them on the site for a long time as they go through each quiz.

Do you want to share something with me to help me?

Read through this site there is a ton of good advice.

Most important, from where do you think I should start?
Just start.

Decide on niche or general
Sign up to social media
Build website
Google questions
Build quiz.

You can be up and running in an hour.

Oh and its black friday tomorrow there will be deals on domain names and hosting.

Will be interesting to follow your journey. Remember, dont get disappointed if your results are few at first. Keep chugging and chugging, thats how youll eventually make money.

gl on the journey.
so any progress yet?

I haven't touched seo in terms of quiz sites because google doesn't really like them all that much, adsense banned me early on cause most of my traffic was "invalid" when all my traffic was coming from social sources.

AdSense does react to spikes of traffic! It a perfect network if it goes through a server, but without GAM it's very risky.
This point in particular makes me smile in the shadow of the latest events.

Regarding the quiz questions, I was thinking about creating a database and making API requests, is that good or bad for SEO and ADS approval? Because when creating the API the page itself will be practically empty, it will only have the structure and the requests.

Manually tuned quizzes will always perform better. I never tried API, but I tried a lot of quizzes and the only reason I created what I created is because I wanted to shape specific user behavior that will be profitable for the ads. No matter how empty the page is, the ads will slow down the total load time. If the quiz loads too fast and the question doesn't require time to think user may get to the next page without the ad being loaded, thus for free.

In relation to the host / domain something cheap or even free to start? Which domains should I use and which should I avoid? (.com .au .co .xyz .io etc)

Any domain is fine as long as it doesn't look shady. Domains with .com or expensive .io domains can still look shady, and .gq or .me domain can look very perfect. Don't overthink it, nor spend a lot of time, pick something simple and easy to write.

Host - think ahead, if you plan to have 500 concurrent users you need something very stable.

Should the quiz be just one niche or can I have several on the same site / domain? (Example, http://www.quizsite.com /gamesCategory -> * several games *, /moviesCategory -> * several movies *, etc.)

Both options will work fine. One user has huge site about science quizzes, another has 1000 quizzes on multiple topics - they both strive. The main point here - choose something you want to work with. If you like tv shows - work with tv shows content, don't work with math, and vice versa. You need to like what you do, this is 50% of success.

Which ADS recommend me to use? Google ADS or others? I can't have several right?

You can literally have all the ad networks in the world at the same time if you run ad server.
If you don't run ad server ad networks may have rules such as if you work with X you cannot work with Y.

Thanks I will check godaddy after I got a name for it ahah
Any paid hosting with free trial or free the 1st month? Something that can help me to start I mean ...
Well I said beginner but I'm sure I can build that page :D using vuetify or another material design framework.
Have a Theme, good idea!

ember, dont get disappointed if your results are few at first. Keep chugging and chugging, thats how youll eventually make money.

I will do my best, and I believe with this forum support I will success!

gl on the journey.

Just wake up ahah I have a full time job, but I need to do something else to get and extra $, with this pandemic situation things are getting bad, I should prevent future problems ...

What is GAM?

Manually tuned quizzes will always perform better. No matter how empty the page is, the ads will slow down the total load time. If the quiz loads too fast and the question doesn't require time to think user may get to the next page without the ad being loaded, thus for free.

But for example, Using Vue I got multiple components, I have have a component with ADS and another for the quiz so I get the ADS always on Bottom and only if the users changes the page/quiz or finish it it will reload the ADS component

like this:

What do you think?

Ok, so I will go to the cheap one but using a "common" domain (.com .io ...)

Both options will work fine. One user has huge site about science quizzes, another has 1000 quizzes on multiple topics - they both strive. Ok, so i will let the ADS for the last step, like @PoisonedYeti yeti said "Start by making a site and social profiles. Then get some traffic and add ads. " I will start to populate that.

Ow one last thing .... Why all people say to use WP? Ok it's easier you don't need to "build the site" only get the values on it, but I saw a lot of people telling that the site is slow and tey use extensions to speed up but that can "kill" the ads ... :S

If I think I'm able to handle the site (build it) should I do it or it's a wast of time? :s
To be honest to structure the site and bla bla bla I think untill the end of the week I can have something solid yet (because I don't have 24h free time, otherwise I would say 2 days max)

Cheers,
Ussagui

Never used FB ads or any ads before, it's easy do handle it?
At first it looks complicated. I advise you to watch some videos on youtube and after making your first ad creative you will get it.

good luck mate
Thanks mate!

I'm still here and working on it! (I haven't disappeared, yet AHAH) Like I said I got a full time job (and I live alone and I got a dog) so a lot of my time is working, doing house stuffs, and walk my dog.
Just to update what am I doing, I will do like the others do (like a check list)

So I need to:

  • Get a name
  • Build a site
  • Buy domain
  • Buy host
  • Create social accounts
  • Get ads
Tomorrow I will buy a SIM card for the social account (or I don't need?)
The Quiz site is like 80% done! (IT'S ALREADY WORKING!) but I need to do some fixes and improve some "features"
Should I share the link to my site (dev host atm) here so you guys can give me your opinion or it's not a good idea?

CC: @PoisonedYeti @Neurosells @DunDidIt2X @Elvlin @jonnyinsta

You dont need a sim for socials. I do reccomend a proxy of some sort, if the sim is your way of doi g that then by all means.

If you want to share your website I reccomend sending it in PM rather than public. If you want my opinion my inbox is nowhere near full and I just put the kiddo down for a nap.

I wouldnt share your link in public post. Find an experienced person with good rep that is willing to give ya advice and perhaps share proivately with that person.

Ok, once it's done can I send the link to you?
Well I don't know the way ... so you think having a proxy is better than a SIM ok I will try that, because once in the past I remember I created an "alt account" and the acc get blocked asking for a phone number... but things maybe have changed ...

Good luck I am happy to have a look at the site but I wouldn't go public with it.

Will caveat that with I am really busy this week with my own site so might not get back that quickly.

Good luck
