Hello everyone,

I really hesitated to post this but what the heck.
This is my first journey here and hopefully not the last. Main objective of this journey is to learn how to rank a website - basically to learn SEO. By thinking more about my main objective I understood that I need not just to develop my SEO skills but I need to develop some of my character features as well. I hope that this thread will help me to track my progress. I will have some questions and requests for anyone who is reading this, so stick along!

ABOUT ME:

My name is Aurimas (short is Auris), I am 25 years old and I live in Lithuania (Europe). When I was a teenager I was fascinated with IM, but I never truly committed to it. I was bouncing from one method to another, always looking for quick money. I tried a lot of short term methods, and I never looked at the big picture. I think that I am ready to grow! Now I will seek knowledge instead of quick cash. Also I have a day job. It helped me to understand how business work and that you need to give value to a customer. Because of this job, I have some startup money to invest. Salary is not very high in my country, so I will need to count my expenses and only buy things that I really need.

THE PLAN:

Below are the steps I want to learn and guides I found here to accompany me down the road.

Content:
I will need to outsource content, because I am not a native speaker and I am afraid that my broken language can affect user experience.

PERSONAL DEVELOPMENT:

I always lacked self discipline so I think that I will start there. For example: if there is no deadline (or it is far away) to make something for clients at work I won’t do shit. With this journey I want to prove to myself that I can work on my personal goals. I will be consistent at it and I will succeed.

This is a good read: https://www.blackhatworld.com/seo/s...orking-at-100-productivity-and-making.820134/

PROGRESS TRACKING:

I want to track how many hours I worked on this project. I think at first it will be difficult to remember to set a timer every time, but in the end it will be worth it.
Also I will track my expenses, changes on the website, rankings and other steps what I will take.
I can not promise that I will make an update every day (I am lousy at writing), but I will post few times a week.

SOME REQUESTS:

Maybe you have some suggestions from your experience? I would gladly hear them.
I am not a native english speaker, so I would be very thankful if you point out my grammar mistakes (at least the most annoying).

My journey starts now!

Best of luck to you!

for tracking, I use a spreadsheet where I input the when I start and stop to keep a record of how long I work and can put in an hourly rate so I know how much to invoice, might be worth setting something like that up?

First you learn, then you earn :)

I'm a content writer, so If you ever need advise for the content or you need something written - P.M me!

Make reading BlackHatWorld a habit and you will see how fast you will benefit from that!

hey,
all the best to you on your virtual road to wisdom. I'm also from Lithuania (Europe), hehe.
[not a sales pitch] I'm a content writer, if you are looking for one. Just plain simple "let's help a countryman" thing.

Anyway, great thread, amazing urls (I am also on a journey to learn). Lots of helpful stuff. And, if you do find a good way to track your hours working on a project, make sure to share. Will be following. Good luck.

Best of luck. Looks like you got all the resources you need and now it's just a grind to get everything setup.

Will be following your journey :)

Consistency is a must. Repetition scales. Organization is key. Discipline is a product of aspirations. Good luck:)

Thanks, I will try your method!

Thank you all, I will do my best! :)

PROGRESS:
Today I found a niche with a buying intent, but I have some doubts about it.
It has 2900 monthly searches (keywords everywhere), and Moz difficulty is 18.
In the first page there are 7 niche sites targeting Amazon products. I think this is to much competition for a noob like me.
Whats your opinion?

It depends how much are these products going for. High ticket items don't need high volume in searches. Low ticker items preferably need high volume. But analyze each site, their products, etc. 2,900 is usually a fair ball game.

Thanks! For now I am looking something easy and doable.
Found another one with 1.600 searches, price range is $150-$1.200 (best selling)
I will do in depth competition analysis and then decide if I will go for it.

It is nice to see more and more Lithuanians here, wishing you the best luck!

PROGRESS:

For now I am just reading some guides and watching videos about niche marketing and SEO.
I really liked one approach: at first target lots of low MS, low competition keywords. When they rank - Google shows trust in your site. Then you can rank medium competition keywords more easily.
I think I will stick to this approach.
I have some niche ideas. Next step will be to pick one and develop blueprint for the site.

Looks like you are ready to roll here... BTW, I like your tie! Welcome! :)

Great congrats to your journey man!

You can also take medium and high MS and low competition keywords to rank easily :)
