Journey to a passive income

Hi all,

I've seen a few of these and I think it's a good way of motivating yourself as well as others. What I have created is a news aggregator website which was first a hobby but now I want to make money from it (it's currently losing me money) via AdSense.

According to Ahref, the domain rating is currently 47, it has 320,000 backlinks from 161 domains. However organic traffic is only 296. So far I've tried targeting massive keywords which I was never going to rank for, so now I've decided to go after smaller ones which will hopefully add up.

How these aggregator works are, if a blog wants to be featured they have to have a backlink to us in their sidebar, that explains the high number of backlinks and few domains, as the backlink is in the sidebar of every post.

My strategy to go after these smaller backlinks is to write guest blogs on another website, they include two links to high reputable sites like the BBC and one to my targeted subpage and contain around 300 words of original content. The anchor for my target link is my website.

To give you an example this is my highest ranked subpage compared to the number one for the main keyword using MOZ.

Average monthly searches (from AdSense): 100k-1M
#1 PA: 66, DA 69
Mine: PA 38, DA 31

This is a lower ranked subpage compared to the number one for the main keyword

Average monthly searches (from AdSense): 1-10k
#1 PA: 28, DA 69
Mine: PA 1, DA 31

So you can see why I've decided to target easier keywords. So far I've written one article on another website this had a majestic trust flow of 1 and a citation flow of 6. Hopefully, I'll be able to get guest blogs on better websites soon.

#Update 1
I've been allowed to publish on three sites regularly, the stats on these websites are as followed
Site 1 - Moz domain ranking 35
Site 2 - Moz domain ranking 22
Site 3 - Moz domain ranking 17

What I'm going to do is tweet out a link to the subpage and post a link on Facebook. Then I'm going to select three keywords for each subpage and then write an article on each of the sites for each keyword, then check the rank 30 days later.

Subpage 1
Keyword 1 rank: Not ranked
Keyword 2 rank: Not ranked
Keyword 3 rank: Not ranked

The three articles are going to based on the same thing, so has anyone got a good recommendation for an article spinner and also a plagiarism checker? Is it better to stagger the articles or does it not matter?

I would not recommend spinning the articles, just rewrite them to make them readable and unique. As far as plagiarism checker is concerned, I recommend Copyscape premium because it is commonly used by the majority of people nowadays.

Good point, I've decided not to use spinning software. Does anyone know a way to give these guest posts an extra SEO boost, so they add more juice?

I've managed to find 10 expired Tumblr blogs with a Moz page rank of around 30, I'm going to try and find a lot more and find a way to link them together and then pass juice to the money site, if anyone has any ideas of how to do this than message me

I've managed to find loads of expired Tumblr domains with a page rank of 28-34

What I've done is got two 28pr sites put two links on them and some content,

PR28 - content with link to PR32 and external well ranked domain
PR28 - content with link to PR32 and external well ranked domain
PR32 - content with link to Money site and external well ranked domain

I doubt this will do much, but the I'm linking to a subpage of the money site with a PageRank of 1, so it might give it a bit of a starting point.

Managed to find a lot higher Tumblr Domains, PR 45+ so what I'm going to do is write 15 150+ word posts on each one, they'll contain one link to low competitive sub pages and hopefully, that might do something.

What I've done is set up a spreadsheet which has all my subpages listed (each has it's own niche). Then a tick box once they've got the following things:

• Three guest posts on separate websites using three separate keywords. I'm not paying for these guest posts so they tend to be on blogs with a moz domain ranking of less than 30.
• A Wikipedia link to at least one of the guest posts
• Shorten all three guest posts using Bitly and Google Shortener
• A Facebook post and tweet to the subpage.
• Another guest post from a Tumblr page, with a Moz page rank of around 35.
• Create their own Twitter and Tumblr accounts (this isn't for SEO, just traffic) which automatically post.

It might take a while, but should be worth it for the long run.

Site 4 (Moz DR ranking 14): 2 guest posts
Site 5 (Moz DR ranking 12): 2 guest posts
Site 6 (Moz DR ranking 18): 1 guest posts

Does anyone know the best way to boost the page ranking of these articles, managed to get a few indexed on Wikipedia. Also hoping to write on more domains, instead of having multiple guest posts on one site. I Managed to get all the guest posts above for free and they contain one do follow to one of my subpages.

I'm still managing to write guest posts on other people's blogs and websites and still all for free. What I've started to do now is create automated Tumblr and Twitter accounts to try and drive traffic towards the subpages.The Google impressions and clicks are still increasing.

I've been making automated Tumblr blogs, which are quickly growing in followers, however, they're not the same niche as the money site so I'm hoping to put popads on these blogs and then use the money generated to drive traffic to the money site via popads also.
