Too many words for only 2 grand monthly.

Those precious conversions would make you a lot more with affiliate marketing compared to ad revenue. Write a thousand or so words about your problems, and how Product X/eBook X solved them. Cushion them with real information too. You won't need 5 billion articles either.

You seem to have a vision for this, but I'm just offering my opinion. You're doing too much to not be making a crazy return.

I hope to do FAR more than 2K a month. I expect to make than off each site if I play my cards right. The grand plan is to get these to 2K a month in 6 months, then quit my 9 - 5 so I will have more time to work on these projects.

I plan on adding affiliate products to each applicable page eventually. One of my sites is all about fixing problems. I plan to search for products and adding affiliate links. But I need the real traffic to do so.

I want to make this real passive income. I need a huge number of articles to rank. I am going for a BTB style, massive authority sites.

Thank you for the advice. It is great advice. I do plan to do it eventually. For now, I want to get enough articles up all based on KWs, rank them, and make the easy low hanging fruit so I get out of the rat race and do this in better depth.

Article posting has slowed down on my big site. Now working on ranking. I have about 20 links dripping in a day, for a couple months. This will get most of my KWs ranked.

Working on diversity, getting some Edu and Wiki links to drip in as well. Trying to source a good high authority link or two as well.

Now I am working on getting content up on the other sites and getting them ranked slowly but surely. For site one I ficussed on content first.

Site four I have the least articles on, but I am starting SEO now. Some social signals, some parasites. Maybe some 2.0s.

Each site will have a different strategy and velocity. This is as much a case study as it is a journey.

One question, have you found a solid social signals drip service?

The best I have found is express fans. It doesn't have the diversity I need but it's the best I've found.

I have slowed down content. A new post every few days on the big site. Working on SEO now. I have a lot of links slowly filtering in. I can't wait to start earning from all of this!

I have switched my attention to my other sites. Ordered manual and high quality 2.0s to two of the sites and I have redirected a few domains to each to give them a kick in the butt. Will report back once I make something.

Not really ranking anything yet. Only a handful of google searches. I would not say it is the sandbox, I think that has more to do with link velocity. It may be because I have started link building and google wants to play. I suppose I will keep at it, content and SEO, until I hit 180 days. That was my goal for 2K a month. I hope that does the trick.

It turns out I have a pretty stiff competitor with my largest site. I just found out a site with 15000 back links, page one number one for just about every KW I am targeting.

All content written by US writers and they have an entire team of writers from the US. Their content is great and well written. They will be hard to knock down.

Any ideas on what I can do better?

Either way, averting my attention to the other sites for now. I will see how I can do with them.

Decided to up the velocity of my links to the largest site, again.

I have slowly ramped up links over the past 2 months. Now that I am adding fresh content a couple times a week, have over 300 articles, have an upward trend of velocity, I think it is a good time to get a bit more aggressive.

A little about my link building to my sites, and other sites:

I really have not kept up with which site is which, so I will break it down this way:

Site A: Over 300 Articles.

All articles unique. Ranging in word count from 300 - 1000 +. Mixture of by me and outsourced. I have earned some links and Social Signals along the way.

I do have some steep competition. Some KWs I have low competition, others I have another website following the same path as I am but ranking for most KWs in number one.

Their Backlink strategy is simple. A huge spike of nearly 100K Links about a year ago. And a small amount monthly. Not penalized and ranking well. The niche is in competition with major health and DIY sites. How it survived? I have no clue. But it did, and has some power. This site made me re think my "Slow and Steady" Approach. I am not pimping this site out with crap. Most of my linkbuilding are 2.0 buffers. They are relevant, powerful, and right up my alley.

My strategy has always been, for any site, "Velocity + Social Signals + Sprinkle in high power links". This means some Wikipedia links, Examiner Links, Yahoo links, etc. Not all can be bought. Some are earned. But they all make me look more 'Natural'.

I plan on picking up a press release soon for this site. I think in terms of justification for this site.

The problem with this site is it is so large. I am essentially trying to rank 300 MNS KWs with a handful of links per page. It puts me into a pickle. I made the mistake of working on content first and NOT linkbuilding aggressively while I did so. Lesson learned.

Site B: About 50 Articles.

Not showing up anywhere. Zip. Nada. KWs were not and are not super high competition. I did a few Re - Directs to it to juice it up. It is not an amazing site. It is a pain for me to write about. I did maybe 5 of these articles on my own. I am not going to drop this project, but it is my last priority.

Site C: About 50 Articles.

This site is promising. Not amazing yet, but, I have started some manual 2.0s to the first dozen articles and did a couple redirects. When the 2.0s are done I will be blasting them with a variety of links.

A side note about Pyramiding. Do not be an idiot and put no follow links in tier one or two. They do not pass the juice like a do follow link would. I see a lot of people 'building tiers' and they have wiki no follow as tier two. I hit my head against a wall and say 'Are you kidding me'? To all their own, but do follow contextual links are FAR more powerful if you want a third tier attached to it.

Site D: Under 20 Articles.

I am juggling putting up 1K word articles up on this site a couple times a week. This site has potential.

I currently am putting parasites up to about 5 posts, and 2.0s to every article. A handful of 2.0s will be to each article with tiers of contextual, high quality links.

With this site I am doing SEO as I go. If I put an article up, I build a 2.0. This is to speed the entire process up. Once one site ranks and gets me money, I can put more money into each other site.


Unlike other sites I did, I am being careful in this journey. I have gotten away with a lot in the past and have not been hit. If my links are relevant, not crap, and justified I feel confident this will all work out.

Six months is a long time in the IM world. If I can hit my goal I will be amazed. At this point I am not making or ranking. Hence me getting a bit more aggressive.

I would just do what they're doing... better to know now if it's going to make some good bank, than to waste time on a niche that you're throwing good money at well as your precious time. The thing that worries me though is you seem to have just 'stumbled' across this other site for all of the KWs you're targeting. My fear is that you're finding all this out a little late.

You do certainly have a talent for writing though and as another member said earlier, maybe you should act as an affiliate for something you really believe in. Failing that, maybe a membership site targeting a niche you can really add some value to. Maybe creative writing!

I have 'stumbled' upon this site. But I have hope. The reasons are:

1. My original KW research did not hit them in Google. One mail KW did later, but I am not targeting that main KW because the competition for Adsense is super low, as in some clicks with it would get me $2, other 0.01. The money is in the 'long tails'. Which they do not target all of them. When going deeper, into 'higher competition' to rank and pay out KWs, and the main KW, they pop up.

2. I can over take them. I am not an SEO noob per se. I do see they 'Spammed' to get to the top. That is the beauty of this niche. Sure, a lot of authority sites have articles for some of my KWs, but they are easy to over take. I can beat Wikipedia for the specific page over time. Many others are small blogs with no real competition, or so research seemed. If their spam to the top worked, great, they also LOST a lot of links due to this initial push, which make me confident I can beat them with superior quality.

3. I will not give up.

I know I can make money because despite the lack of Google love, I get a handful of visitors a day and they convert for Adsense. Although a buck or a click per day is no big deal, a three month old site with minimal SEO done so far has promise.

You are 100% right. For the site I put the most time into, the 50 - 100 KWs I have stiff competition for would have been great to know before. But it does not dissuade me. I need to target more KWs, rank better, work smarter, and be more diverse. Which I can do.

I do appreciate the advice. I do work on Parasites, Affiliate Products, etc. But that is not my long term SEO income I can quit a 9 - 5 over. I need to be relentless and work hard. I out sourced a lot. Learned a lot. I keep plugging along. I can't risk not having either a SEO business or a few Authority sites I can pay the bills with while I try other ventures. It is a calculated risk to avert from passion and fast money to long term business models.

Another Niche I am in I was active in forums, had direct traffic, and so on. Site gets a minimum of 100 long visits a day and converts moderately well for not doing anything to it for over 6 months. Problem was, juice was not worth the squeeze. I know the juice is worth the squeeze for this niche and it answers common questions, specific to people problem solving, and has enough searches to make money.

Perhaps my posts are not optimistic enough. I am used to making money after a month. But this is a different strategy. Once my strategy pays off, I will detail how I did it. I know I will make this work one way or another.

I did try my hand at writing. I made a little money. My problem is if I care about something, I spend too much time writing for it. It is a gift and a curse. For making money sake it is not a good thing.

I know, "I cant. I wont. I did it already." All Bull Shit newbie excuses. I just have my mind set on a journey of multiple authority sites making me relatively passive income after six months. With the amount of work I am putting in, and money, and assuming google wont hate me in the Sandbox forever (Link Velocity, New Links, New Domain) I know I can make money.

On the big site, Site A, I have 500,000 impressions so far and 8,000 clicks. Not great. But Google is slowly but surely working for me.

Earnings and views are starting to trickle in. I was worried for a couple days. But alas, patience in the name of the game in IM.

Adding articles to all sites. My smallest site is up to a couple dozen articles. All articles at about 1K words.

Biggest site is well over 300.

Grinding every day.

I know its hard. And I went about it the hard way. But I will keep going. Working harder and smarter than the guy at number one who spams 1000s of links a month, loses 1000s more, the uses domain age to stay at the top.

Focusing on long tail from here on out, that was the strategy. Hit the money KWs first, then delve deeper. Let the harder KWs age and build links while targeting the low hanging fruit.

Slow way to make money. But I thought when I began this journey it was smart. I am smart enough to admit I was wrong. Too late now, got to keep plugging along.

About to kick SEO into overdrive.

I am now building at least one Parasite to each article posted on the big site. This will take me another month to complete. I am boosting these Parasites with a robust tier two. This will give me a ranking boost. I plan to treat these like a PBN.

A little 301 Redirect Idea.

Something I have been playing with for a bit is using 301 redirects with existing Parasite links pointed to them and boosting them up for my money KWs.

What I have been doing:

1. Snatching up relevant domains with an authority link pointing at my site.
2. Build links to the authority links (Mashable, CNN, BBC, Fox News, etc).
3. Rank and make money.

Interesting concept I have been playing with. Each of these authority sites will not notice a few hundred new links pointing at an internal page, and I believe it will pass some juice.

Correct me if I am wrong. Still early testing phases.

Nice idea, be interesting to see how it pans out over the coming weeks.

Playing with White Hat stuff now. Still link building as budget allows, slowly adding links to all inner pages across various platforms.

Some of my articles needed a slightly higher KW density (I was around 1% with H Tags with some) and other such options. Others were a bit high for my liking (Over 4%). It is a lot of work to go over so many articles and better optimize, but I figure if I am going to spend so much time and money on off page, I better have on page down to a science.
