[Journey] Testing Waters with Translated Content, Let's See How it Goes

Seeing so many journeys lately with translated content and some bloggers providing an examples of sites that are/were based on purely translated content from English to any other language I have decided to give it a go too.

The idea is simple: get the content from English - put it into Deepl to translate into German -> put it on site.

The site was already launched, currently it has 25 pages including the homepage. Haven't indexed yet, today added it to GSC, hopefully it will make index it.

Do not ask for the niche, I'm not going to reveal it for obvious reasons.

Not expecting anything at all from this journey to be honest, since the successes I've seen mostly come due to 3 reasons:
1) Translated articles got edited. I can't do that since I do not understand German.
2) Quantity over quality with thousand or even hundred thousand of pages. The niche I decided to dive in doesn't have such amount of queries and I can't do thousand of pages anyway, as it's too time consuming. I'm currently aiming at 50-60 pages.
3) A little bit of link building/301 redirects/links from home pages. I picked a fresh domain for this journey and not planning to spend any $$$ on links, domains and stuff.

Will consider this journey successful even if I get a few bucks per month in revenue.

How you pick your keywords, group them & structure optimized content.
This is what will determine your success with this website.
I once translated a camera review website from Spanish to English with g Translate & put Amazon affiliate links on it.
6 months and a little bit of pbn masala added ocassional earnings started to come.
It was with me for 2 years then I sold it.
Overall it was an ok project, decent earnings.
Could have been more if I was bit careful with niche & keywords.
Since then I always plan my content even for spam blogs.
 
I have an established site with 100+ pages. I am desperately looking to get into the German market. But for me, quality is a priority.

It's crazy that the translators on fiverr would cost me about 3x more than I paid to have the content written. I am looking for the cheapest possible solution.

I just tested Deepl. Translated to German, then used google to translate back to English. Surprisingly nothing was lost in translation.

I think I am going to go along with you on this journey.

Worst-case scenario, I pay someone to edit the posts in the future. Should still be way cheaper than paying someone to translate.

Looks like all packages have a 30day trial. That should be enough for me to get everything done.
 
Hi, good luck on your journey. I wanted to mention a few things; while Deepl has great performance when compared to other such services I would like to urge to you to choose your texts carefully in order to get the best end result. I've worked with translators and I've used services like Deepl a lot and I can definitely say, personally, I find them struggling greatly when it comes to texts which are loaded with emotion, double-entendres and sarcasm. Conversely, I find them performing best with texts that are fairly straight forward.

What was your language you translated to if it's not a secret? And how many pages your site had?
Keywords are everything, totally agree.

That's what I'm thinking too, but that would be the case only if the site will get some initial traction and brings in some money.

I'm using online version with 5k characters limit. Have installed Windows version but cannot find it on my pc, lol.

Thanks! My sources shouldn't have much sarcasm and emotions so I hope for the best.

It's in my previous post Spanish to English.
Total 20k words.
Review type website.

If you translate through Deepl all the time, translation will get better after couple of times. Translation gets better and better. And it can translate same text differently: longer usage and background, better the translation. It's the world's best machine translator :D;)
 
Added today 2 more articles on the site. site: shows 2 indexed pages.
 
Now the site has 35 pages in total, including privacy and about pages.
Starting to see some impressions in GSC.
 
Haven't done much this week.

Unfortunately, the number of impressions in GSC has dropped and site: each day shows less and less pages.

The site now has 39 pages in total including About Us and Privacy. I was planning on adding 50 or so pages, but seeing pages deindexing doesn't motivate me much to be honest.

I doubt I will add any new page on this site in the future unless will see some growth in impressions and indexed pages.
