[Journey] Launching a micro-SaaS and getting $

So, what do you guys think, is it a waste of time to try to speedrun my own SaaS? I have some time but my motivation goes up and down all the time, is there anyone that has done something like that? Thanks

Developing SaaS is a superb idea.

Ok, but do you think you can beat those remove.bg guys in SEO?

No, I just took it as an example for the people here, my niche is way easier to rank on and there is only like 5 websites that does it

btw, are you a developer by yourself or you source?

Myself, I have been coding for 6 years

Great!
Some months ago i noticed same things, that some small services like (youtube video downloader), they were getting good traffic and just by using adsense, they earn good.
That time i remembered one of my friend who was doing a site related on apk download, was earning $50k a month.
Now i am thinking that, as a developer why i did not do that before, lol

btw, how about your SEO. You do it by yourself? As you know this type of websites wont have lots of contents and they wont have frequent content update. So how they maintain google rank?
Just by social sharing?

Nice! I was also wondering if building in public could be a good idea but I'm too afraid to fail lmao
dont worry about that you win some you lose some its part of the game. Looking forward to seeing some updates

I've read an article of a dev who built a 100% free online tool and hes currently making 90k dollars per month with ads

Very interesting topic, something different from the CPA and Porno Journeys. Good luck!

No idea, I will try to make the best content possible on the few topics I can write on

Update
I have changed the whole niche, I found another one that was way easier to rank in and that has potentially millions of users to get

I deleted the tool I made before and made a new one for my niche, lost a ton of time but was a good decision, way less competition and many other tools to implement (remember, I want this website to have a lot of tools in its niche)

What works:
  • Tested the tool in production environnement, it works
  • Authentification works
  • The link between Stripe <-> Database <-> User
  • Have an ugly landing page

How I get the money ?

It's a freemium.
Each user can use the tool for free one time, then on his second try I put a modal that says something like "Upgrade your plan to use the tool", then he has to sign in and after that he can pay to get unlimited access

Here is my issue : Each usage of the tool is costing me $0.004-$0.01

The average freemium conversion rate ranges from 1% – 10%

Scenario: 1000 Users with Freemium Conversion
1% Conversion Rate:

  • 1% of 1000 users = 0.01 * 1000 = 10 paid users.
  • Each conversion gives me $9 in revenue.
  • Revenue from 10 paid users at $9 per conversion = 10 paid users * $9 per conversion = $90
  • Profit = Revenue - Cost = $90 - $10 = $80
3% Conversion Rate:
  • 3% of 1000 users = 0.03 * 1000 = 30 paid users.
  • Each conversion gives me $9 in revenue.
  • Revenue from 30 paid users at $9 per conversion = 30 paid users * $9 per conversion = $270
  • Profit = Revenue - Cost = $270 - $10 = $260
Summary:

  • With a 1% freemium conversion rate and 1000 users, I make a profit of $80.
  • With a 1% freemium conversion rate and 10000 users, I make a profit of $800.
  • With a 3% freemium conversion rate and 1000 users, I make a profit of $260.
  • With a 3% freemium conversion rate and 10,000 users, I make a profit of $2690.
I will see once deployed if those stats are correct, I hope this can stay in profit

TODO:
- Limit the product to 1 usage per day per user (and unlimited once subscribed)
- Implement an anti-spam with a third-party api or some captcha so someone doesn't just destroy my bank account with a for loop lmao
- Make the legal pages (important)
- Make a user page so he can change his subscription status (downgrade, upgrade etc)
- Register correctly on Stripe
- Make a good landing page that converts
- Make it scalable

Many things to do still, I'm reinvesting my other project money into this one, it will take months to grow but should get organic backlinks because the tool just works, I'm not productive enough tho

I have an idea for the pricing:

$5 one time buy - Get 10 usage of the tool (not a subscription !)
$9.99 subscription - Get 200 usages of the tool
$19.99 - Get unlimited usages

If someone wants to use the tool once, he has to pay $5, then he asks himself "why would I pay $5 when I can pay twice and get 20 times more?"
No idea if thats a good strategy; but I will try idk

Also, it's always better to sell yearly subscriptions, many SaaS do it that way

I like the idea of giving one use away and then the modal stating they need to pay for more (whether that be 10, 200 or whatever).

Getting people to give out their cc info is the sticking point. A good starting price I've used is $7, it helps get over that hump.

This website is a money printing machine, let's see the stats:
56M monthly visits
Base pricing of $32/month
Let's take the worst case here, 1% of conversion.
Monthly revenue = 560,000 * $32 = $17,920,000
Crazy, isn't it ?
Good luck man, but those scenarios won't help, you may get disappointed at the results, remove.bg for example got only a few hundred clients.

I suggest you start with the market first, & not the product, look for an existing issue in a particular niche and build a simple small solution for it.
