Hello everyone! I will documenting my progress here in order to boost my motivation for my upcoming project I have, which is to make money through betting affiliates.
The main plan is to provide free betting tips on social media, which will be used to get traffic for my website (which will also provide more in-depth tips and stuff). My main target is the African market, which means I will have to adapt all my approaches to African customers. I have chosen Africa because it is an emerging gambling market and I have already noticed a tendency for African people to follow my posts even without actually targeting them.
The biggest issue I have is setting clear expectations for myself. I found myself giving up previous projects of mine (including this one that I initially started in April) because I was blowing out of proportion my expectations of my performance in the early stage, I hope that this thread will help me by being able to visualize my evolution throughout this journey and keep me motivated to continue this idea of mine.
WHAT I HAVE
1. A budget of around 1000€ for the next 3 months. I can always ask for some money from my parents, but I'd rather not do that;
2. A domain and a barely-functioning website;
3. Social media accounts created (FB, IG, Twitter, Reddit) with logos and post templates;
4. A general idea of who I will be working with in terms of bookies and casinos. I have not officially begun working yet, but I already know who to contact.
WHAT I DO NOT HAVE
1. Child accounts for IG. I will firstly create accounts using the 4g phone method, thinking of getting 10 accounts for now. I will not use any automation atm, because it is both more complicated and unreliable without a custom-made bot;
2. A clear strategy to approach FB groups in my niche. It seems that African people are more into using FB than IG, so I could be missing out on a lot if I choose to ignore FB betting groups;
3. A fully working website. Until I can generate some revenue, I would rather keep a simple website with only the bonuses page and grow my social media accounts. It doesn't seem worth to me to spend a lot for a website for which I would struggle to get traffic to; that money is better used for increasing my social media presence. The moment I switch to a full website, I will also have to take into consideration links, seo and other things I have not fully researched yet.
SETTING EXPECTATIONS (October)
1. I expect to experiment a lot with child accounts on IG. Never worked with them before, so it will be interesting to work my way out of verifications and action blocks, while also providing the main account with a decent number of followers. I do not expect a huge boost in October, so I will not set any tangible objective;
2. I want to get at least 3 FTDs (First Time Deposits). Because the affiliate model is based on revenue generated to the bookie / casino, this does not guarantee an income for me. I only make money if the player loses money, usually around 25% of the loss;
3. I expect to research ways to efficiently use FB groups in order to get people on my page. Perhaps even creating a group on my own where I could share the posts of my page, but this has to be looked into;
4. I want to experiment with FB, IG and Twitter ads. I know these are more expensive, but I would like to see the results anyway;
5. Reddit. Start posting some analysis of games there, but I need to be careful with the rules of the subreddits regarding self-advertising. I will not target African people by using Reddit, but I am sure some extra activity or traffic will help regardless.
To anyone telling me 500€ per month, as a goal, is rather low, I can only answer affirmatively. But that is the goal only for 2020. I live with my parents, so I do not have any living expenses.
I will make an update every 2-3 weeks with what I have achieved and what I have learned. I hope to make good use of all the information on this forum and to give back whenever I can provide an answer to a question. But until then, I shall learn.
