[Journey] 17 year old - Going to $2,000 a Month

Working hard on my content strategy for VBC.

Trying to outline a longer-term plan for the business, because obviously a lot is going to change in the near future.

Need to figure out a way to scale my content promotion efforts -- because there's growth right now, but it's all linear.

Aka, I generate X amount of visitors each month... and get X(Y) amount of subscribers... converting X(Z)% to revenue....

I'm trying to figure out a way to get a jump start... maybe through guest posting or creating some massive piece of content (like a crazy video course that I could sell, but give away for free instead to generate authority).

Not really sure what I'm going to do, either way is going to take a lot of hard work, which I'm not opposed to... but I want to be as efficient with my time as possible.

Right now I'm heavily investing into my audience/building the subscriber base of VBC... maybe slightly to the detriment of growing my short-term income, but I'm ok with that for now because I'm still seeing large growth there.

Good work ethic! Do you plan on doing IM full time in the future?

Yeah that's the idea.

I'm not too far off from that currently.

Still in college for the next two years at least, so that should give me the runway to really ramp up my IM efforts before entering the 'real world.'

If you don't mind me asking, what are you studying? Something related to marketing or?

What I like about you that you're very positive and you can make something big one day. That's a kind of inspiration for me. My best wishes are with you Brandon :)

@ Sammyy

I'm in the business school. Probably going to concentrate in marketing/finance or something like that.

Marketing is really my passion... but I'm not sure if I'll like the classes at school. I have nothing to base that on though, so we'll have to wait and see.

Yeah man. I wasn't that positive back when I got started. Even two years ago I basically had no idea what I was doing... and I had that feeling "is there any chance that I could actually make this work."

I never found out how to get over that -- over than working, and pushing through it until you have some experience/proof that you can really succeed.

Nowadays the only difference is I can look back at my past accomplishments whenever I'm feeling down. And then say, "Hey I've already gotten X done, it just took me 6 months of hard work. Just keep going."

Starting to get into a routine... and realizing how much time I'm spending working for the business versus working on the business right now.

Basically -- I'm realizing that I need to figure out how to delegate the busy work (things that anyone could do).

And I'll stick to the important things that only I can handle.

I'm not in a bad position currently -- but I don't want to get to a point where working for my business impedes my ability to do the marketing/business development stuff... because that will just stunt the overall business growth.

2 years, 2 months, and 20 days later...

Well... We've come a long way, guys.

I started this thread on 8/11/2012.

That's exactly 2 years, 2 months, and 20 days ago.

I'm happy to finally say: I reached my goal.

It's been a ton of hard work, a lot of rough times (and a lot of great times)..

I could've probably reached my goal a lot quicker, had I realized the right mindset/strategy back then...

But I guess that's part of the process.

I haven't even thought about the original post in this thread since I wrote it. Looked back at the post today, and something caught me by surprise. The *second* sentence I wrote in the OP was this: "I'm in this race for the long-haul so you can expect to see this thread up and running until I make it." (You can even click back to the first page of this thread, and read it for yourself.)

And I guess, I'm happy I kept going for it. There were *many* times I thought about quitting...

The funny thing is that this doesn't feel like such a huge milestone -- now that I've reached it -- and I now have way larger goals I'm shooting for... but I think it's pretty symbolic, and will be great motivation to look back on in the future.

Going out to celebrate with friends tonight.

Then tomorrow I'm back on the grind.

Over and out,
Brandon

P.S. Be prepared for some massive updates on my journey coming very soon. Probably going to close this thread and make a new one, with a new huge goal to work towards... One thing is for sure: I'm prepared to do whatever it takes.

Nice work, man! It took a long time and I assume a lot of hard work, but it's awesome to see a successful journey. I will keep an eye out for Part II: The Reckoning. :D

Awesome dude! 2 years, 2 months and 20 days is definitely a notable milestone! Please post your new thread soon! :)
