[Journal/Method/spoonfeed] The 'Crashed Challenge' 30 Days to Money...

Subbed!

Can i just ask: what type of sites work best with your method? Micro-niche?

I am demonstrating it with a wordpress blog, the techniques I describe here however can be used with any site...

In addition I am showing how methods can be combined so you can make different streams of income from the same site.

So how do you monetize it?Using Content Lockers. Now a days when you do a google search you can see all the latest Football Videos and nobody will bother to fill up some surveys to see it from our spammy looking Site or is there any other way that you would monetize the Site?

Until the post where I reveal all... Here's something for you to ponder.

Why does it have to be about videos...
Why does it have to be surveys...
And why does it have to look spammy....

Can I ask why you suggest month and title as opposed the normally suggested /%postname%/ which does give the title?.

Also can I ask why you prefer your privacy policy at your footer?.

"15.Add some categories using keywords related to your niche"

Could I add to those who are not familiar with Wordpress?

When you create categories, until you have created a post which is then categorized in your newly created category then it will not show on your front page. I hope that makes sense.

I remember creating all my categories when I first started with wordpress and couldn't understand why they didn't show.

Anyway Thank you for creating this thread. Although I have a little experience in WP I still think its fantastic to see an alternative or a different method.

I suggest Month and Title for a couple of reasons. To understand why takes an explanation...

When you turn this option on, wordpress has to turn the postname into the postnumber behind the scenes so
http://website.com/This-is-my-post
shows
http://website.com/post.php?id=9282

This means it has got to search every single post in the database for the correct post to show. If however we add the year and month, it limits the search to only posts from that year and month. A major performance boost as your site grows. (official wordpress explanation is here - http://codex.wordpress.org/Using_Permalinks)

My second reason for this is it puts a date into the url, makes it easier for ppl to see it is recent content.

For the privacy policy in the footer, the reasons I do this are:
1. The average user won't want it, yet it should be accessable if they do
2. It needs to be on every page of the site, and I want it to be the last thing google see's after all my content.
3. It's kinda standard...

In terms of it being a page, I do not believe it should be on any menu, hence the Exclude Pages plugin (this plugin also allows you to add other pages such as newsletter confirmation etc without them showing in the menu)

Thanks for picking up on the categories :D Have bolded it above.

No-one knows everything, and there is no right or wrong way, just what works for you.

Thanks for that excellent explanation. I hadn't thought of that and with speed being one of many factors for a site, then it is truly a valuable nugget of information.

I have never used the exclude plugin before and will need to give it a whirl.

Cheers

Awesome guide Crashed!

I didn't know about the www. duplicate content thing.

I just sent a link push to http://mydomain.com should it matter now that my site only uses http://www.mydomain.com? Or will the link juice be the same?

Thanks!

If you have it so it automatically redirects mydomain.com to www.mydomain.com using a 301 redirect you should not lose link juice.

However in future decide at the start of a new site if you want to use www. or not and stick to it... :D

For some reason I can't get my privacy policy link at the bottom of the page to actually link to my policy page. I've copied the exact code listed in the post, i've also copy and pasted the page name from the address bar. Still nada. What am i missing?

I sent you a PM, if you don't mind posting the code here we can help. If you want to keep it private PM me it and i'll take a look.

I have nearly got Day 1 finished, just finishing up the videos now!

Thanks carrepairs12, I had to remove to back slashes from the page address. Also thanks Crashed for the PM, unfortunately, I am a few shy of 15 posts and couldn't respond. I appreciate you guys responding so quickly, I'm learning new things by the minute.

If you remove the first back slash from the privacy-policy it will change the address to what is known as a relative address. This means that the privacy-policy text will just be added to the end of whatever is in the address bar... When you are already on a page it may mean it tries to load site.com/page-name/privacy-policy instead of just site.com/privacy-policy

Putting a / in front of it tells the browser that it is fixed to the domain root. So no matter what is in the address bar it will go back site.com/privacy-policy

To get it to work, put the address in commas so it is "/privacy-policy" so it actually looks like

Code:
<a href="/privacy-policy">Privacy Policy</a><br /> [/CODE

EDIT: in the original post I tried using the HTML code tags, this changed my " (comma) into some different character which broke the code. I've fixed it now though.

How long till you post it? A couple hours? Cause if so I'll stay up for it hehe!

Definately no more than a couple of hours. I got 2 more videos to do and then should be done!

Thanks for this thread, I'm looking forward to following along. Since I'm technically proficient but I've never made much, I think I've been missing something when it comes to monetization. Hopefully as things progress I'll be able to nail down what my weak area is.
