Hello BHW Members,

I have been meaning to start this journey thread for a while mainly to learn and motivate myself. A little about my background, I do have a full time job and do IM as a hobby for around 4 years, hoping to become full time. During this time I have made around $10k through various business models.

So why an authority site?.

After my EMD websites got canned due to the Google update, I have read a lot of threads that the only way to make a website sustainable and to make a good amount of income is through an authority site?and here we are.

Strategy

My chosen niche will be the attraction/dating for men. The site will portray that the owner is good with women and can help men attract women (like Hitch). My plan is to share the website link with you once it?s off the ground and I have uploaded my first phase of content.

  1. Content ? my first step will be to brainstorm around 100 topics within my niche to develop content around. Once I have uploaded around 50/60 pages, I will start to think of more content.
To get started my main sections of my site are as follows:

Online Dating
Attraction
Building Comfort
Dating
Products (Clickbank reviews)
Ask Mike (alias)
Blog

All content will be outsourced to article writers on BHW. I will drip-feed the content onto my site so it looks like that I am adding content regularly on the site.

  1. SEO ? On page SEO will be covered by me manually when uploading each page. However, for the off page SEO strategy, I will need some help as I am weak in this area. I want to outsource this for each page but not sure who to go to (could do with some ideas when I get to that stage).

  1. Monetization ? My plan here is to start with affiliate products from Clickbank and Online dating sites. When the site drives more traffic I will include my products (eBooks) and consulting services (email/skype chat).
What will be deemed as success?

I know that authority sites take time to build and maybe I shouldn't be really calling it an authority site but I can that goal. Success to me is either $500 a day revenue or 1,000 unique visitors a day (for three days consistent). I don?t know if these goals are realistic but that is what I will go with.

What will I be tracking on this Journey?

  1. Revenue
  2. Costs
  3. Profit
  4. Unique Visitors
  5. Pages Created
How often will I update the thread?

When there is an update. I won?t be working on this project everyday due to other commitments but I hope to engage with fellow members on advice and learning?s.

So please join me on my journey!

My first step will be brainstorming 100 topics within the categories mentioned above so I can start outsourcing the content.

  1. Revenue: $0
  2. Costs: $61 (Domain/Email/WP Theme)
  3. Profit: -$61
  4. Unique Visitors: 0
  5. Pages Created: 0

Thanks,
Zoheb01.

Are you going to use EMD again or you are going after your own brand hope you get what I mean

I think I get what you mean...I will be looking to create a brand however, my domain does look like an EMD.

Each page will target it's own set of keywords so hopefully I can rank for a lot of targeted keywords. Once a visitor lands on the page they are looking for, they will stay on the site and look at other relevant content.

Authority sites are known for having a lot of content. You say you're going to upload 50/60 pages. How many words do you plan on having per page? 500-800 words per page, more or less?

Don't do this. Someone will always try to sabotage your site when you make it public.

Looks like you have a good plan. Some more things I'd suggest to make your site look like a big authority site:

Make a mobile app. Can be done for free and without any coding knowledge here http://www.appmakr.com/

Be sure to setup Google Authorship. It helps in the serps and makes you look legit.

And don't forget social media. Youtube, facebook, and twitter at a minimum. You may want to use some fake followers to get the ball rolling initially. Just avoid fake google anything if you go this route. Then you can use hootsuite to schedule updates to your twitter, facebook, google plus for 3 months in advance.

Good luck! Keep us updated.

My plan is to make each article anywhere between 400-800 words depending on the topic

Just to chime in on what Raffy said. Social media is becoming more and more important these days, not only for ranking purposes but traffic as well. Depending on your niche (mine being less attractive for social media) you can get anything from 5-50% of your main traffic from social media.

And also, don't share the link. I'd love to see a live journey but as time has shown us several times, people will sabotage it.

Thanks GerogeCarl I will not be sharing my link!

In terms of social media, I can create the accounts...is the strategy to tweet/post/pin the pages of content mixed in with other relevant useful information?

Yes, you're absolutely right. Think about it this way, your goal is not to spam your website across different networks but to attract people. Why would anyone follow you on twitter if all you do is churn out your page every single tweet? Be creative (I usually do a lot of 'Did you know ..?' tweets with popular hashtags on twitter) and communicate with the community in your niche.

Makes total sense. I will create these accounts before posting my latest update.

Update

I managed to brainstorm 68/100 topics which I can create content for. It was a lot harder than I thought to think of content to talk about. I now need a good content writer for these topics.

To test the water, I decided to get a 1 x 500 word article from blackpayman733 as his thread got great reviews.

You can see the link below to his thread.

I have researched every dating/attraction Clickbank product and aligned them to each of the 68 topics. I have chosen products with high gravity and rebills where possible. The good thing about the theme I have chosen is that you can have custom side bars per page. Therefore, each page will be targeted with relevant Clickbank offers.

I have also paid for someone on Fiverr to do the company logo. As suggested by my fellow BHW members I have created FaceBook/Twitter/YouTube/Pin Interest accounts. Not sure yet when I will use these.

From a website perspective, I have played around with the theme and setup Google Analytics.

  1. Revenue: $0
  2. Costs: $70 (was $61, have included one article ($4) and Fiverr gig ($5)
  3. Profit: -$70 (was -$61)
  4. Unique Visitors: 0
  5. Pages Created: 0

Good job man!
As said before, please never share your site!
And at the beginning, social media is what launched me so keep a close eye on this!
I never thought about making an app, but it sounds really good!

Keep us updated and aim for the stars!

Thanks for the words of encouragement mate. I am keen to understand how social media made you and there maybe something I can learn.

Guys, do you know when you Google something and blog pages are found in the search engines. In the search I've seen a picture besides the page title. Do you know how to do this?

I've seen that this helps in SEO and would like to set it up for all my pages.

Secondly, I need a face for my alias name. Do you know where I can free legal images of people I can use?

Thanks,
zoheb01

Takes awhile until it's active, tends to need an authority domain (took me 6 months) for it to work.

Update

I got my article back today and the quality was good, but thought it could be better. I guess I have to be realistic on what I would receive for the amount I spend.

Since I was happy with the article, I ordered 9 more articles for the 68 topics I brainstormed.

I managed to find a free alias profile picture with full rights of a good looking guy which I have updated the pic to my Wordpress, Facebook, Pinterest and Twitter accounts.

I have updated the menus on the site and used a plugin to automate the Privacy and Terms of use pages.

Still waiting on my Fiverr logo.

As my WP theme has an image slider on the homepage, I want to put images which when clicked would go to the respective affiliate sales pages. Therefore, I have two questions relating to this:

1) How to make the size of an image bigger without comprising resolution? I can do this on fiverr, but if there is a way to do this myself for free I would rather do that

2) The way you input an image on the slider is to create a post and set a featured image. When you click the image on the slider it will go to that particular post. What I want to do is when the image is clicked on the slider it redirects the user to the sales page for that particular product. Does anyone know how to do this?

I feel like the site is taking shape. When the logo comes back it will start to look more like a real. When I get the 9 articles back I will have 10 in total. Before I drip-feed the content onto the site I still need to download all the banners for the clickbank products for the relevant pages. I also need to apply for affiliates for the dating websites however, none of the 10 articles are related to online dating site reviews.

1. Revenue: $0
2. Costs: $106 (was $70, 9 articles ($36)
3. Profit: -$106 (was -$70)
4. Unique Visitors: 0
5. Pages Created: 0

Thanks for following,
