joomla or wordpress?

I vote for Wordpress as there are already so many plugins good for SEO you can use and it's very easy manage.

I prefer wordpress by far! Just make sure to buy a proper domain for it and not host a free Wordpress blog on their site.
 
I use wordpress because it's easy, fast, and safe enouth
 
Wordpress is good but I think it has its limits, I got the feeling you can only go so far. I was playing around with wordpress 3 today and its changed a lot since I last used it. Its a lot better. I prefer drupal which is similar to joomla.
 
Joomla, at least for deployment for clients sites. If you're just building a simple site with a few pages it's a bit like swatting a fly with a machine gun, but it's easiest for client to update, as they can do it all within the pages, from the front end, with no knowledge or training. It's painfully simple.
 
WP is the future - much easier for clients to use in the long run, and the all in one seo pack is a piece o' piss to use!
 
Sure WP is very easy and your clients would learn it faster, but in the long run, Joomla is much better. It has a great community and a lot of extensions(plugins). It's not that hard anyway, just take a day to learn the basics and everything else comes in the natural way. If you want more complex websites, Joomla is the way :) I do all of my serious websites with Joomla.

Joomla all the way if you are building out complex and/or large and intensive sites. As a CMS it works great and it is relatively easy, once everything has been set up, for your clients to use. Does have a steep learning curve for those who don't have a technical background.

For smaller, less technical and less resource intensive sites, then WordPress is great. Setup is easier and faster.

Both platforms provide good SEO options, so it really depends on your need. I use Joomla for larger corporate sites and WordPress for local businesses.
 
I think people forget, and clearly failed to read my post, but you can instruct client to log in from domain/login.html (depending on seo settings) and then they can browse their sites, click the pen icon and edit the page from the front very easily. Nothing is easier than that, not even WP, unless it now offers that feature?
 
Word Press is much better over all. I can also be customized more than joomla and much faster. The SEO on wordpress will be faster and better. Most of the sites we put up in WP gets top 10 results in the search engines for their keywords.

Wordpress uses less server resources vs joomla.

I think both have a very good features with their application.
But I like wordpress for it's simple and easier application........:angel10:

Clearly you've never used Joomla to any great degree. WP is a blog, Joomla is a proper CMS. With regards to customisations, WP isn't even in the same time zone as Joomla. But yeah, it is harder on resources, but then it does a lot more.

Regardless, they both have their uses. Use what covers your needs best and you are able to use. Simple really.

I'm a beginner with Joomla and am going through a steep learning curve. WP is easier to handle, buy Joomla looks far more professional than Joomla
 
depends on your needs
if you need blogging, use WP
if you need forums/groups/etc, try Drupal (I dont like Joomla:p)
 
I prefer WP to be honest, the sheer amount of plugins make it adaptable to nearly any situation. It's easy and quick to install and once you get used to it you can do some pretty impressive things with it.

But like everyone has already said, it depends on your needs.
 
Wordpress if you want easy to create, simple to manage sites.

Both are fine SEO-wise.

Joomla if you want a complicated beast you can charge clients more to build and maintain.

Especially with the release of WP 3.0 this week, Wordpress is no longer just 'a blogging platform'. It's officially a CMS.
