Joomla or Wordpress for new blog?

I've been on a mission with my clients to get rid of Joomla. It's a stiff cms which is difficult to modify. It's slow, and basic seo which comes naturally to WordPress seems nigh impossible with Joomla.

I haven't met a setup yet which I haven't been able to do well with WordPress. It's well worth the investment.

At least set up a WP just to get the feel of it. It's very quick to get used to. If you're not feeling it, then go back to joomla.

Just youtube some wp tutorials and you can see how simple and powerful it is.

I allways recommend WordPress, so much FREE plugins, so much easier to use, so much FASTER.

I use Wordpress for virtually everything... large authority sites... clients local business sites... blogging sites...

It's easy to get additional support for changes. Becomes easy to edit and change code after a while. If you need to get outsourced fixes and changes you can get them done for pennies.

But once you are into it... you get so used to it you will hardly want to consider another option.

Joomla is more complex... but with the correct guidance SEO can be set up very well if not better in certain circumstances - but that is not so simple and takes a degree of special skills.

Some of my sites are 3-5000 pages and work fine. Its' quick to set up. easy to host. And tutorials are all over Youtube.

You can accomplish most things with Wordpress except large eCommerce sites - so I agree for blogging Wordpress is the way to go, and it will set you up with a foundation for doing a lot of other things.

I used Joomla but Wordpress has plugins for SEO. I use them with success: Yoast, Squirrly SEO, All in One SEO

Wordpress is great for blogging, internet marketing, small business sites and e-commerce solutions. It's a well known and has a lots of plugins, to have secure and seo optimized sites. It's fast and easy to use. For my blog network I use only wordpress. I miss one unique control panel to handle all blogs from one place but, nevermind - wp is the best for blogs. Period.

just my 2c

+1 to WP - loads of tools, free plugins and IMHO it is easier to work with - less settings, especially if you're planning to use those blogs for link building.

WP baby! :-)

absolutely wordpress, it's the most popular CMS and the easiest way to build blog and sites..

I recommend to use Wordpress and web hosting from Bluehost.

9 out of 10 will recommend you wordpress. However you need to understand the fact that there is a different extension structure for each. Joomla's structure is more intuitive than WordPress' once you get the hang of it.

Again, it boils down to the purpose of your website. I've found that most WordPress plugins are developed specifically for blog-type websites, whereas Joomla extensions have a much wider variety.

For better SEO and better blogging experience go for wordpress else go for Joomla.

Wordpress hands down. Massive plugin support, easy as fuck to use, SEO friendly.

I had to switch back to WP after using Joomla for my CMS website. Bloody complicated and often a PITA. IMO anyways.

WordPress - it was designed specifically for blogging and was a competitor to Blogger and LiveJournal years ago. Nowdays WordPress has grown into a CMS for a variety of things.

Joomla was not designed specifically as a blogging platform, just a content management system.
