I've only been around for a few years, and been a Jnr VIP for less than 1 year, but it seems the quality of Jnr VIPs is really going down hill. I propose an increase in requirements, essentially number of posts and membership $cost.

Perhaps 500 posts and $500?

I personally signed up after 600 posts as I was curious (I do not sell anything) and from what I have learned, I hope I now help others also. However, to be honest, some of the new Jnr VIP's seem to know less than I do, which is worrying, as they are offering services and proclaiming themselves experts in everything.

Maybe as I become more active in BHW I am just noticing this and it has always been the same, maybe it is a new problem, but regardless, there really is some dross out there now.

The only way I can see to combat this and improve BHW is to raise the standards. I am sure I will get some flak for posting this, but I am also sure that others will agree.

What say you?

Yep there is some fakers I agree but 500$ is expensive, and those 500 posts will increase spam for sure.

If the service they promote is trash mods will delete it so... No.
 
Flaw here is people who have something to sell, can afford the $500 but people like yourself who have nothing to sell, it would discourage them maybe.

Raising the post count to 500, would result in more reports for staff to deal with, due to post count inflation as those people rush to reach 500 posts.
 
So, is it just me, are the quality of Jnr Vip's in the last year the same as previous years? Or is there a downwards trend?
 
The annual fee is going up to 147.00 in a few months as @Diamond Damien stated recently.

That is a financial deal so I usually don't comment or never get involved but that is a mere pittance for most in the industry but will help keep Jr Vip from being abused.

As to post count there might be something there but again, that would be a piece of the financial aspects and, to not be tied to any "you are only doing that because he spent X Amount for his {Jr Vip|On Advertising|Etc}" so a public comment on my end would be inappropriate.
 
Well BHW makes money from Jr.VIP subscription. 500 post requirement is not going to happen.

Como'n think logically. This is not a non-profit organization. More Jrvips = More monies.
If I own BHW, id be pushing for more Jr.vip subscriptions (sticky the YES YES YOU NEED TO BUY JR VIP THREAD)

Just don't associate the blue tag with knowledge or experience. :D

But if the brand is devalued sufficiently, BHW will eventually be replaced, i.e. your "Is BHW becoming Warrior Forum?" post, which will cost a LOT more money. It is a difficult balance but one that every business strives to maintain - In reach of the masses / quality content and services.

Both of those points are valid. I just do not see how to raise the standards and quality any other way.

Raising the fee to $147 is a start but not enough to make a real impact. But then again, as @MisterF pointed out, perhaps $500 would not make a difference.

I am open to suggestions as to how to raise standards of paid members.

I don't see much about quality of Jr.VIP and I've been around for quite a while. So I don't know if there was ever a time Jr.VIPs possesed a certain level of quality... For a few people including myself, it's not about the price or requirement but the need for the damn recognition, I hardly spend money on something i might not make money back from. What's the point of paying $500 when I might not make that or more back from it, I don't spend money because i want to feel among.

Not everyone is able to pay 500$

Some are new sellers too, who can't afford this price. As many countries have 500$ is a high price while converting in their countries currency.

Many new sellers have started their business from BHW only.

Imagine their situations also.
 
Raising the costs wouldn't incteinc the quality as btb pointed out a lot of people who want to sell will pay the extra with no issue but it will stop a lot of newer people (by newer I don't mean people with no knowledge just those who are not earning decent extra income via the web yet ect) so the quality wouldn't increase and it may also decrease as at a too hight price point newer members who have a wealth of knowledge and have been doing I'm for years might feel that the price is too high for what they plan to use the forum for eg if there just here to help others and discuss tactics and maybe even learn something then to them a really high selling point could put them off .fair enough they could be earning £1k a day but if they don't feel the value for there needs then they won't join where as £99 is a nice fair price . Second point incresinin post count .now that would be a nightmare how many times have we seen a new member spam post on lots of threads or put pointless comments up just to hit that 100 post point to join jr vip .if it's uped to 500 that spam will just go on for longer and be done by more members which will annoy a lot of members and make life harder on mods
 
I have been here for 10 years - a whole decade now

I was a jrvip. bu I quit becuase as the op mentioned. and I dont post here to often. and I am on and off. and like the OP I dont sell anything only buy.

maybe.. there can be 2 or 3 levels of VrVIPs

Common JrVIP (normal 100 posts + $99 like right now)
Next maybe JrVVIP (more posts + more $$)
next maybe SrVIP (even more posts + age of account + more $$)

just my two cents

I considered that, but could not work out what the benefits would be (I spent less than 1 minute, so I am sure a solid plan could be devised).

At present, this is the Jnr Exec VIP group, which is based on merit and invitation vs $ and posts. Perhaps, there is a middle ground, one where Jnr VIPs could be invited to, based on merit but below the Exec level. Thus creating a level of trust/authority for buyers/forum members.

No idea, just spitballing.

Yeah, something like that. Basically, just a recognition of quality which others can aspire to and trust, that is attainable by all and raises the standards and quality in BHW.
 
Yeah sounds like a great idea to make it cost 5 month of living expenses in a third world country, as if the subscription fees to get freelance work wasn't difficult enough for them.
 
I guess this all depends on your motives for joining JrVIP... if its just to brag a little, then one might feel bothered . If you did it to be able to advertise and run a sales thread, then you dont care about quality.

For me, JrVIP is a simple business decision. If you have nothing to sell, I see no reason to upgrade to JrVIP just to brag or something.. so in my summation, there is no problem at all.
 
I would agree but I think 500$ is too much. I would suggest that the number of posts should be increased and there should be a minimum amount of likes one should have to access Jr. VIP

I agree! just "spitballing" as you put it :P

It is for the admin to brainstorm the nitty gritty of it.

but the bottom line and I belive is the

quality of JrVIP went down the tubes. so did the quality of the services being offered.
