Jeff Bezos is getting a Divorce

So Jeff Bezos became a millionaire in 1997. He got married 25 years ago in 1993. Jeff was a "normal man" back then, and almost no normal man signs a prenup. When most people get married, they are assuming that they will be married for life. If you're net worth is less than one million, it would seem kind of shady to your future spouse to sign a prenup that makes a split anything different than 50/50.
This. But also, Bezos was working a good job in the financial field before. Nothing making millions, but I'm pretty sure he was close to six figures. Also, Amazon was basically failing for most of their startup phase until they decided they won't go far only being an online bookshop.

still billions of dollar is a huge price to pay for having an affair....i find it extremely unfair...
and I don't understand why smart people like him won't sign a nice pre-nuptial agreement? Not a lawyer or knowledgeable about it but i would hate pay my wife half of my net worth...

bitch probably did nothing to deserve billions of dollars....

I don't know what planet you are on, but this has to already be considered one of the most retarded posts of 2019....

I personally know guys who have done very well for themselves in business, starting from scratch where their wife supported them financially by her working 2 jobs while he did his product design and all the stuff, earning zilch as he was also doing his MSc at the same time.
A friend of mine had to remortgage their home to grow their business, so his wife agreed to that risk and it paid off, despite the risk of them both and their young child risking being made homeless.
You look at some of the multi millionaires / billionaires who actually started out with nothing and their wives are still with them.

Regarding Bezos and his wife;
I'm pretty sure she has been there for him through thick and thin and more importantly stuck by his side. People tend not to get married just for the money, especially making it last 25 years.

Oh pls. Plenty of women support their families and plenty of men support their wives etc. That's life....

I don't see how she did anything special to deserve 50% of his net worth.....which is 70 billion dollars....
This whole concept of wive receiving anything after divorce is flawed and out-dated....

Alimony made sense when women were not allowed to work, she was dependent on her husband...it's the 21st century, women under 30 make more than men for the same job ... and after that the gender pay gap is non-existent..or marginal

Women don't depend on men anymore, men should not forced to pay his wive anything. Child support yes.

But why pay wife anything? even if pay, why pay 50%....i will not attribute my success to anyone to that extent. 50% of my success is not because of some women support....maybe 10% or so....i could live with.

I see it happen all the time with celebrity divorces and it doesn't make any sense to me...

And it's so typical that you use some anecdotal example of your "friend" to make a generalizing statement....and u don't see the flaw in that? for every one 1 nice supportive wife, there's probably 10 horrific mothers and wives....

I don't mean to offend anyone, just sharing what I really think. You can call me stupid or whatever, I don't care....

You don't know him or her. If the news is he cheated, he kinda deserves it because he didn't start the divorce or anything but decided to be unfair instead. So yeah, you're right. Someone was unfair. And it's the cheater.

Who does that? Normal people stopa relationship if something's not working and move on. No need to lie to others. Especially if the person spent half of their life with them.

Anyways, we don't know how involved his wife was in his fortune-earning. So, we can't and shouldn't really even go there. And if someone's THAT loaded, they won't notice a half going away. Let's be real. Facts. I don't even know why I'm wasting my time on that deformed fool, we should all watch our business instead.

Isn't the general rule for both partners to split the earnings if they didn't sign the pre-nup? I get it that you hate females like the person before you, not surprised because it's not the first time I see woman-haters on BHW. But seriously, try to be real and fair, why be that sexist? Are you the expert who did a research on married women? Because only then, you could say a stupid and a wrong statemet like the last one you wrote. Can't be more wrong than that, period.

I completely agree on most things and thanks for explaining politely. I try to be as objective as I can. I think some of it was lost in translation. The point I was trying to make was, there are both good and bad people in the world. So don't give me one example of one friend or 10 examples of 10 friends because it won't mean much in a population of 7 billion.

As for being a woman hater...those are just labels. I'm trying to be objective to the best of my abilities.

Good timing for divorcing...When her husband is #1 at forbes...

Sanchez and Whitesell wed in 2005 and have two young children. She also has a teenage son Nikko, from her first marriage, to former NFLer Tony Gonzalez. They have not yet formally filed for divorce.

She has a habit of leaving men. so a level up for her. lol

Look, I'm with you for the most part. However, things aren't always as black and white as you make them out to be.
If you do some research, you'd realize Bezos benefited from their relationship and marriage a lot. She wasn't just at home and that was it, she actively supported him and the company during its development and management (and obviously did something right, otherwise Amazon wouldn't have become what it is today).

I think it would be funny if he drops a few spots and still ends up making his way back up to the top.
