I pay $15 for my articles because I get college educated native English speakers, it reflects highly on your site...but if you don't care about that you have to sift through a lot of garbage just to find someone that is semi-competent...

I think Iwriter is ok. Obviously you are not usually going to find an expert in the specific field you are requesting content for, but you can get some decent writers at a fairly cheap price, and if you are not happy with the work you can reject it. I like that. I always say that I will only accept work from native English speakers, so if I can tell that they are not it is an immediate rejection.

You expect to get good writers at less than $10 per article? That is your problem right there. Think about how a native English speaking full-time writer can afford to write articles for less than $10 per article? They obviously can't afford to spend very long on it.

I am a native English speaker with a Philosophy degree. I'm from the UK and can do articles for a good deal. Don't look at my other posts because I don't care about the quality when posting.

IMO iWriter articles are badly spun versions of articles that already exist on the web if you order basic/premium level articles. However, elite articles ($8 to $10 per 500 words) are usually well-written. I was an elite writer on iWriter for several months before finally quitting because even the elite pay was not worth the time I was spending on the articles.

None of them are. Not even a single person on that site can speak a word of English. There's no difference at the highest price point. The only people who could possibly think writers on that site speak English obviously don't speak it themselves.
You will NOT get good quality, ever. I actually did write on it for maybe a week. One idiot turned down a 1,000 word article about chameleons. Written in perfect English. I didn't know anything about chameleons but obviously he was a cheapskate expecting Examiner tier viral articles written by experts on the topic for $6.
Don't be a cheapskate and use this awful website unless you're prepared to receive shit.

I am guessing if you only wrote for a week you never moved beyond 'standard' ranking?
Just because your article got rejected, doesn't mean everyone else is rubbish.
iWriter has an Elite Plus ranking now and there is no way someone can achieve that by writing shite.
I just had a look and at Elite Plus, there is a 500 word article being requested that pays $97.20 - are you seriously suggesting someone will pay that much for poor quality?

Have you ever written for iWriter? If not, you should retract everything in your comment. iWriter is basically a den of unscrupulous, unreasoning, and inconsiderate (maybe even malevolent) clients who expect the whole world for $5. You can pour all your effort into an article and still find out later that it was rejected by a stupid client who can scarcely speak English.
Besides that, they give you 500 words of instructions to follow while writing their articles as though they were paying you $100 for it. iWriter is complete garbage. Writers stay away. Clients stay away unless you are ordering elite/elite+ content.

I wanted to know whether my writing skills / style /abilities would need any adjustment before writing for our own online projects. So I figured the best way to find out would be get myself 'vetted' on various content sites.
I created accounts on all the major sites and iWriter was one of them.
It took less than a month to get myself to Elite status and in that month I was also 'favourited' by 70% of the requesters I wrote for. And that was without writing full time either - I wasn't doing it for the money, it was purely as an experiment and a personal test of my abilities.
Yes, as a standard writer you are more likely to deal with cheapskate clients, but as your rank increases, that's no longer the case.
What rank did you achieve when you were writing on there?

Read my first post in this thread. I was an elite writer before quitting. Maybe you were just lucky and chose the projects you worked on wisely (that's likely because you didn't do it for the money, which is the opposite of what I did).
