Chromium dude. It's chrom but stripped down of all things google. But I still don't see what you mean by it being faster than FF, they are pretty much the exact same, in fact I use both and have both opened up almost all the time.

Awesome man thanks! As far as Chrome and FF you may not notice it unless you're on a slow PC. Sometimes I use my laptop which has a lag in its connection (the wireless router is like 60 yards away) and I notice a significant difference if I use FF. It loads much slower and browses much slower as well. With Chrome I don't get that lag and browsing is much faster.
However, I did use FF on my laptop for a loooong time before I started using chrome and it may have some viruses for all I know cause the shit would also free and lockup. Thats the reason I initially got Chrome. So it may be my problem and not FF for all I know.

Ghostery is good, I use it, but I have found out that it doesn't track programs & block as well on IE, but with Firefox it's good.
Well there is your mistake... YOU ARE USING IE!

No mistake here, I use Firefox currently, but I tested it out on IE too because Ghostery said it worked on that browser as well and I wanted to see how consistent it was. So just letting folks know. If there is any mistake in this, it's with the inconsistency of Ghostery in different browsers.

Seriously I second this idea, im switching everything from google to an alternative. I use to work at Go Daddy as apart of their advance hosting team, and internally I was able to see that a large company can and will shutdown your business.
Especially if a larger company ($$$$$) , files a complaint against you. You're done

Thanks OP for the list of alternatives. I use to use chrome when it first came out but eventually went back
from it because it is a Google product. I do not understand why people even mess with Gmail.

Maybe we should keep an eye on the services we book. Very often you get the results (lists of backlinks or blogs, content, GSA Data) on a google doc sheet or via plain gmail. It's fine if you avoid gmail yourself, but anyone in the pipeline using goggle services may mess up your efforts...

Depends. I've used lastpass back when it first came out. I liked it because it was convenient and it allowed me to use strong passwords, and it's leaps and bounds better than using the same simple repetitive pwd's for each site you visit. But then I learned that it wasn't really safe nor private per my definition of those words. Any company storing your passwords on their server isn't safe, and with it being an American company it isn't private at all.
It's best to stick to password managers that keep the encrypted file stored locally, and are open source. That way you are in more control of it. www.keepass.info is good, I personally use www.keepassx.org since it works a bit better with linux which I use almost exclusively. There are a few other options out there, and depending on what operating systems, and phone you have, you should check them out and see which features fit with your 'digital' life the best.

Just a quick note: maybe most of you know. Send some emails through gmail. Write about (hmmm, let's say) air conditioners. Soon, you will see adsense ads related with air conditioners on the websites you are visiting.
Now, for the replacements:
chrome: Firefox is ok. Or opera. Or even annoying ie. But never ever chrome.
piwik sucks. kills your cpu. I prefer clicky (although a paid option)
mail : yahoo is super good with its tabbed interface.
storage: dropbox is 100 times better.
I am saying "An IMer should never use wmt, chrome and ga" for years. Even created thread for that. Glad some members are realizing what that means. Funny thing is that, our optimistic members with all their goodwill say "no google is not such a company".

Two other things I started doing;
1) using Peerblock at all times(run on startup) with custom lists
2) https://www.privateinternetaccess.com is a fantastic little service/tool which sits in your tray, right click and choose form a selection of proxies form different countries.
