Its Time You Ditched Gmail, Chrome, WMT, GA

You're completely missing my point, of course the NSA keeps doing what it is doing as they are backed by the government and have no-one to answer to

Google isn't and has to answer to shareholers, and when this kind of stories about Google reading your mail become mainstream people will stop using Google and their products hurting their bottom line. It is out here but for most people it is still a very abstract thing, but when it becomes clear that Google is reading your emails they will feel it in their pockets

This isn't rocket science.

Google's share price today is

1,150.53

Their shareholders are 100% behind everything Google does.

Never tried mega.co.nz. But I can bet 100% for sure that Dropbox is 300 times better. I've got all my work online and a backup and almost every computer I have. Best of all, if I update a file, they automatically update it for me.
BA,

just out of curiosity I checked the page source in this thread...

blackhatworld.com uses google analytics? lol

this is in the source code

http://pastebin.com/pwNg7UtG

thoughts on this?

I never understood that as well, it basically gives Google the tools to find out who you are on BHW. Moreover, they dont need to pay for the Jr. VIP section to view its content, meaning BHW earns less than it potentially could.

The ultimate solution is altering the hosts file with this:

Code:
0.0.0.0 www.google-analytics.com
0.0.0.0 ssl.google-analytics.com

I agree with alot of what you said. You guys should check out a documentary called 'Terms and Conditions May Apply' its very interesting and deals with topics directly relating to this

Even before Google was spying on us and our tactics
I hated the interface of gmail. I agree with you 100% though
as a community we need to push them out.

Random suggestion but I want to recommend the author Jaron Lanier. He wrote "You Are Not a Gadget" and "Who Owns the Future?" which questions not only Google but the entire basis of the Web as we know it. From decrying the rise of massively powerful servers controlled by a few tech entrepeneurs and engineers (zuck, sergie, larry, cough) to eerily predicting that if we continue to interact with Web2.0 companies as we do today, the human experience could slowly be dulled until computer bits and server power mean more than humanity.

I am really digging this stuff because I have been feeling uneasy about how the Internet seems more vapid and impersonal and unsatisfying with every passing year. If anybody else has read either of his books, I'd love to talk about it :D

Also it all ties into the fact that Google has the most powerful servers in the world and has 24/7 access to, records and saves forever every last piece of data about our digital and even offline lives. But hey, dont' be evil right? That's a motto you can trust.

or, you could just follow the rules, build a business, and stop caring about Google for traffic. It just doesn't make sense to me the length some people are willing to go to try and manipulate Google. Why not focus your time on building a business that does not rely on another business to thrive?

Those who invent the future own it.

Great post op, I couldn't agree more.

Quick question: What if I use a Gmail address with Thunderbird? I don't have to login to Gmail so I guess that way they can't steal much info..

Oh great, it uses analytics .. I wonder to what extend it's being tracked? All the PM and such.

Always remember that "Where there's a will there's a way!"
And we all know that our good friend the big G has the will, so he'll surely find the way(many ways, in fact!). If he has not done that already, as it most probably has...
But don't blame Google for it, this is just pure plain and simple, human nature. Greed and Control, Greed and Control! Who doesn't like to earn shitloads of money and control everything? Other companies do it, they do it to a far less extent just because they don't have the resources google has, otherwise they would do just the same. Governments, also do this all the time, even in the land of the free(specially there)... You might say that governments aren't in the business of making money(LOL), but if so why do they see you as tax payer?
And why do you use GA(or any other alternative)? Don't you tell me that you want to monitor your site visitors, see all their steps...

I know, I know, this forum and specially some life events made me quite cynical...

And do you remember good old, now dead:angel01:, Scroogle? I always loved those drawings of a cook frying an egg, and the analogy with google and your privacy in the internet! :D

If you are logged into google when you access BHW, then all your activity here is linked to your google account.

Google can do anything to crack blackhatters. their webspam team had been granted all powers and means.

The first reason for the existence of webspam team is to secure further their own adword market. it's not abt search quality.

using GWT is a good thing as long as you dont add multilple sites on same account. if you can avoid it altogether, the better.
They use your analytics, ad-sense etc to track you and your websites. So if you have ten websites running ad-sense but they are not on same gwt account, they will still get you. if they detect unnatural links in one of your account, you can expect a manual review of all your accounts by google and they will be grilled sooner or later.

That's why I never use that google chrome piece of shit spyware browser.

nor gmail. Only time I use chrome is for sape.

Honestly I think you're a little paranoid, I don't mean to offend you.

What you're suggesting G could be doing would be illegal. I don't think a company this big would risk being caught out.

I wish we all knew what they're capable of and what they're actually doing. Do not under-estimate the power of a monopoly to think like GOD! Based on past experience, Google tracks everything that comes into its system and then some.

I don't manage sites I'm SEO'ing through Chrome anymore, and don't have blackhat receipts sent to and Gmail inboxes that are tied to my domains in WMT or Analytics. Also don't put more than one site on any WMT or Analytics account if I'm doing link building to it. In short, I'm leaving as little footprint possible without leaving the platforms behind. There's no way their algorithm can track an IP who logs into Gmail, WMT and Analytics without seriously fucking up innocent sites, meaning they could only do it as part of a manual review. In which case you're prob. fucked anyways.

I ditched gmail, wmt and ga a long time ago but I simply can not ditch chrome.

I have not found a browser as fast as chrome (I need the fastest browser I can find) and I use icognito way too much so unfortunately I'm stuck.

Install these 2 add ons, www.eff.org/https-everywhere (does what it says, if there is a secure https version of the site you will go to it instead of the clear site) and Ghostery

BHW uses google analytics. That means google tracks EVERYTHING you do on this site. You leave your own footprint ALL OVER THIS SITE as well as any other site that uses google analytics. Ghostery blocks it. you can use noscript instead, but ghostery is a bit easier to deal with for a novice. Also no that google is using other ways to track you besides analytics. Adsense and flash cookies so I would advise an add on for cookies as well. I use Self Destructing Cookies with it set to delete the cookie as soon as the tab is closed.

If you are using a VPN (not some shitty vpn like hidemyass) check to see if you have any DNS leaks www.dnsleaktest.com/ So no matter if you do use google DNS (which I wouldn't) they can't see you, they only see the VPN requesting the data. If you have a leak, fix it. Also you can check your own browser footprint here www.panopticlick.eff.org/ every extra plugin you run, every tab you have open, and other setting that are browser specific will make your browser unique which is another way to track you and your habits.

Sorry.. I'm big into security, and I hate not having my privacy so I kinda get into this shit.
