Its Time You Ditched Gmail, Chrome, WMT, GA

I don't find it inconceivable, Automatic or Manually. Email has always been scanned for keywords to target ads. They clearly state they can use the data for this purpose of investigating their TOS. If your website is under manual review and an a gmail account is linked to it, Do you really think they wouldn't use it.

I know how much time, effort and money I have placed into websites. My investment is insignificant compared to most of you.
I would still take precautionary methods, even if remotely true. Links in one email account possibly wiping out an entire portfolio.. Screw That !

EPIC browser is awesome with a built in proxy and it doesn't store cookies, history, cache, autofill, or anything else. Close the browser, everything you did is deleted.
 
If you have anything to hide that's a significant risk for you, you should hide it. It's scary to think what kind of tracking is possible, what Lancis said was a real eye opener for me since I've never thought about it before. There is no privacy, everything you do can be linked back to you if you don't hide all your traces. I don't even know where to start...

Hi Gorang!

Without a doubt you have a valid argument and facts here. Google is controlling 99% of all the online services/apps etc. we use today and expanding by the day! YouTube, Google, Gmail, Chrome, Drive, Analytic and the list goes on! One BIG ASS link connection and footprint... We all know google makes the majority of their online funds via offering people advertising through their networks = $BILLIONS.

Where money is involved NO ONE GIVES A DAMN ABOUT THE LAW! And how will we every proof they "Lets just honestly imagine that Google will snoop in yours or your link seller's Gmail, will track IPs across WMT accounts, will use GA data to see where your traffic comes from and will use Chrome to identify you as well as blackhat communities you belong to."

I do not think we can actually completely stop or protect ourselves from this unless someone has a Plan Z here? LOL

If people can walk on the moon, Google can surely do the above mentioned! :)

Yeah brother, I 'm using same. I have hosted my domain email on Zoho and it's really cool than Hotmail and Yahoo. Almost things similar to Google. It has Online Docs, mail, Calender and other applications too. Only needs further improvement on applications load time and cloud technology. Even they have enabled the step 2 phone verification on account for their Account security :)

I don't think the OP is being paranoid at all. History has shown us the ills and capabilities of Google. Some webmasters have lost their entire businesses relying on Google. To be naive and just wait for something else catastrophic to happen is just plain foolish.

As good as Chrome is I stopped using that just as fast as it came out because I thought then about the very points that the OP bring up now. And I knew that the fewer products/services I had downloaded and installed on my computer from the Google Empire, the more safeguarded my web activities & privacy would be. I also uninstalled Google Voice from my computer at the same time coz I surely don't want "track master" Google to have some spyware or something installed to sniff around in my computer files and also track my web activities even further.

Yes, it will be a challenge for us to ween off of Google products (as much as possible), but the less we rely on Google, the better our web business stability and overall privacy will be. After all of the BS I've seen Google pull over the years, I do not trust them as far as I can throw 'em!

Unfortunately we will never get an good enough alternative for YouTube :)
 
Google isn't that bad... I mean it's not like I'm going to sign up as a google intern or anything... :D
Although being a google play developer, this would be impossible for me.

Maybe so, maybe not. Many webmasters have switched over to Vimeo, and even if you get the paid version at least you will have more control and less Google bullshit. But thinking that nothing will ever or could ever top some Google properties is how Google has gained such mass control over the Internet today.

Too many people relied on them too heavily and kissed their butts, now they are walking on the very people who helped build them - people like us - webmasters & affiliate marketers in the trenches!

Google started out as a small business just like many of use have, and we the people have allowed them to grow so big until now they are becoming an out of control monopoly.

But as we've seen with many large companies that have gotten too big for their britches, they can fall too. But not if people continue to use their products, bow down to them and kiss their butts! Relying on Google to build your business is a very unstable business model- it's like building a business on sand. And I can't go for that, can you?
