Vegetable broth, split peas, carrots, potatoes, onions, sweet peppers, celery, a small amount of tomatoes, and corn.

Seasoned with minced garlic, salt and pepper, Mrs. Dash, and lemon juice.

Get your soup on!

I forgot to mention that I had a ham hock in there as well, but I pulled it out after the soup had reduced.

Where I live, with my accent, if I ask a butcher for a ham hock, they usually throw me out on the street.

I could eat that in buckets with buttered white soft bread, and so much pepper you would say its ethniticity has changed! lol I had this often at my moms, as its the only thing she can actually cook. lol
Enjoy!

I'm with you on the pepper... when I cook, I have to dial it back as I'd buy that by the truckload if I could.

When I make soup, I always make some for one of our friends who drives me to my doctor's appointments, and she doesn't like it too aggressive, but once I put some in my bowl, I'm violating the ToS of any soup manufacturer.

Lol, yeah can't beat a bit pepper with nearly everything, If licking the pepper from the bottom of a plate from your finger is a crime, then i'm on the FBI's most wanted, with them seeking the death penality, lol

Vegetable soup is one of the dishes that are most commonly cooked in our household and I wouldn't mind eating it every single day regardless of the season.

Our soups always started with frying or steaming some onions or leek and always include carrots, potatoes and noodles. The rest is improvised or whatever was included in the store bought vegetable mix and it can be peas, beans, green beans, brussels sprouts, asparagus, corn, celery, cauliflower, mushrooms, tomatoes, okra, bamboo and so on.

I love when top it out with a few eggs that can remain almost whole.

Reminds me, I haven’t made some chicken a-la-king for ages! ;)

Brussels sprouts would like a word.
You can have my share of them as well.

I think I once described a person as they make me feel like I'm eating brussel sprouts.

We would need a consortium of James Beard winners to make them edible.

Enjoy it
I have the taste buds of a 6-year-old, I only like candies, pizza, ice cream and this kind of shit
I am also on same boat. For me , the reason could be less availability of these when I was a kid. But the irony is I enjoyed it more at that time when I used to get these things in limited quantity once in months or so. Now I can but and eat daily buy that satisfaction is not there.
