Is YouTube still the best platform for building authority?

Youtube is still one of the strongest platforms for building authority because people can see and hear your expertise over time. It also creates long lasting content that can continue attracting new audiences for years.

That said, the best platform depends on the niche. LinkedIn works exceptionally well for B2B, while newsletters are great for building deeper relationships with an audience you own.

YouTube is still one of the strongest platforms for building authority because video creates trust faster than text LinkedIn newsletters and podcasts are also powerful but YouTube still leads for reach and long term credibility when you stay consistent and provide real value

YouTube remains the strongest platform for building expertise in a niche, especially for visual content creation and long-form storytelling. It offers a direct way to reach a large, engaged audience through video content, which is highly effective for establishing authority and credibility. However, platforms like LinkedIn, X (formerly Twitter), podcasts, and newsletters are also becoming increasingly effective for building authority, depending on the niche and the type of content shared.

Hard to say what the definitive "best" is since that'll be different from user to user. Youtube is still rather good at building authority though, if that's what you're wondering. Long-form content can build a stronger sense of familiarity compared to short posts. Though, admittedly that depends.
Don't sleep on other platforms though, each has its strength that's worth exploring.

like @pedroformigheri said it depends on the niche, but there is also the shelf life aspect to consider. with linkedin and x your content dies in 24 hours unless you get lucky with the algorithm. youtube is a search engine... i still get high quality leads today from a couple of tutorial videos i put up back in 2022.

the barrier to entry is just way higher now on YT. if you dont want to spend hours editing, starting with a newsletter and driving traffic to it from short-form stuff might be easier to pull off.

I think YouTube remains one of the strongest platforms for building authority because video content allows people to demonstrate knowledge and build trust over time Other platforms can help with visibility but long-form video often creates a deeper connection with an audience

YouTube is still king for authority because video creates the fastest psychological trust with an audience. However, the play has changed. Don't rely solely on long-form content anymore. The absolute best workflow right now is filming a killer 10-minute masterclass video, slicing it into 5 shorts for multi-platform reach, and embedding the full video directly into a Substack newsletter to own your core audience.

It completely depends on your target audience and how they prefer to consume information. YouTube is hard to beat for deep authority because people can actually see and hear you, which builds trust.

However, if your audience responds better to quick industry intelligence, focusing on X with zero-click content can be a much faster way to establish yourself as an expert.

It's less about the platform and more about matching your content format to your audience's intent.

YouTube is one of the best platforms for building personal credibility and brand reputation. Viewers can see your face, hear your voice, and see how you work, making it easier to build trust than written articles or images. A video can generate views and customers for years, and YouTube videos appear in Google search results.

YouTube is still best for discovery and building trust, but not good enough on its own.
The true authority stac is YouTube for reach, LinkedIn and X for positioning, and newsletters and podcasts for building trust and retaining subscribers.

YouTube is still the place to go for top-of-the-funnel authority, but it’s not standalone anymore
The real way to play it is by stacking: YouTube for distribution, LinkedIn/X for positioning, and newsletters or podcasting for trust & retention.

I think youtube is still one of the best platforms for building authority but it really depends on your niche LinkedIn X podcasts and newsletters can work just as well if your audience is active there

If your goal is to become known as an expert in a niche is YouTube still the strongest platform available? Or are platforms like LinkedIn, X, Podcasts and newsletters becoming more effective for authority building?
Both are strong platforms it's just based on how much traffic you get what is your niche how much popularity you are getting.
