Is yoast seo a good article writing tool?

My impression was Yoast is bloated, I do most of the article optimization outside of wordpress. Keeps it lean and fast

I have tried this with good success. It scans top 10 results on google and recommends you suggestions on what might help you get to the top. It's paid.

I'd go for rankmath for WP on-page but also consider tools like SEOsurfer

You need something like Surfer SEO for article optimization
Yoast won't help in that regard
 
For writing content Yoast SEO and similar plugins are useless. At most you can pick up keywords and use them as a guide when writing, but no more

i created two sites in the same niche, brand new domains. i used yoast on one and not on the other. the one without yoast ranked higher. just sayin!
