Is Yahoo Site Explorer updating again?

    I've just seen a massive drop in backlinks according to Market Samurai...

    ... I hope I'm not alone!!

    Same here and I thought that is because I had some sitewise links and the sites are down. Now I feel better that is just Yahoo doing something :)

    you are not alone, i got the same problem, no drop in ranks tough, last time it happened i actually had gained a few ranks

    A far more fundamental issue to consider here is the removal of site explorer API at the end of December leaving only the site explorer UI thereby closing down the Webservices API.

    Why is this significant? pretty much all SEO tools use this API to produce the backlink data so there are going to be some serious problems with the majority of SEO tools in the near future. As far as I can tell there is no talk of an immediate replacement unless anyone else knows anything?
