Is Yahoo Site Explorer updating again?

I've just seen a massive drop in backlinks according to Market Samurai...

A far more fundamental issue to consider here is the removal of site explorer API at the end of December leaving only the site explorer UI thereby closing down the Webservices API.

Why is this significant? pretty much all SEO tools use this API to produce the backlink data so there are going to be some serious problems with the majority of SEO tools in the near future. As far as I can tell there is no talk of an immediate replacement unless anyone else knows anything?
