I have read that sites built by WIX can be read by Google, but how effective is it compaired to tradional sites? I think WIX sites look great, but is it a waste to build one? Anyone have any thoughts on this?

I'd assume using something like wordpress gives you a lot more backend features, a lot more options and plugins to optimize over WIX. Wix may have changed a lot since i last used it but also, once you're on their platform, you're roped in.

I have been using wordpress, and can tell lots of people prefer wordpress over wix.

I have used Wix and have played around a lot. The free Wix is not good when an individual needs to establish the website as a brand. Also, its premium is way too expensive and you don't have total control of website. Wordpress is way a lot better

The biggest problem is control - with self hosted Wordpress sure you have full control over your site, the design, the content etc.
with Wix you don’t. You are at their nerdy and are restricted to what they allow in terms of design, functionality etc.
further more you are locked in to their platform.
