I don't know, social networking is unpredictable and the consumer is fickle.
Myspace died because something better arrived and everyone migrated very quickly - everyone is on Facebook because everyone is on Facebook.
I don't see someone making a better Twitter, it is a harder concept to usurp than Facebook, so I see it maintaining its position for a long time. Or until a unique new concept arrives.
Over 500 million users... growing everyday. It's a complete different social network when compared to Facebook or Myspace. Twitter isn't going anywhere anytime soon.
It's an extremely huge network.Facebook and Twitter are the most popular media sites for me and I don't think they will die anytime soon as I don't see any social media site better than these two.
Don't see Twitter dieing for at least 10 years. Even when something better arrives.
Look at classifieds. Craigslist and gumtree.
It's been 3 years since classifieds has been deemed dead by something 95% of webmasters.
Yet if you look at it you can clearly see the rest 5% still making some money there.
Same with twitter. It will have it's potential even when it's dead.
