Hi,
I've been looking into Tumblr as an easy way to host inspo boards, but
- no user forum, nowhere to get answers on anything
- no reply from customer help
- no interest whatsoever on forum like this one
- even theme developpers don't answer messages
- I just read that Automattic bought it for just USD 3M, so it wasn't worth anything

So is Tumblr a zombie platform, just waiting to disappear when Automattic decides to pull the plug?

Ah, tumblr. Good times. When I was a teenager (15-16) tumblr was huge. We were all making 200-500$ a month in ad revenue by literally asking our tens of thousands of followers to click on the ads. Then Yahoo bought tumblr, completely destroyed it, and sold it for peanuts. Now it's a graveyard. You'd be better of using Pinterest for your inspo boards.

Yes I have my inspo boards on Pinterest, but then I discovered that you can only put outside links on pins, so I can't promote my boards on group boards with cover pin that link back to my boards... I have to either find another place to host my inspo boards, or set up redirects to bring the viewers back on Pinterest, but that might get me banned... (I've asked Pinterest, can't get an answer)
 
Oh this is sad news. It was fun place to share gifs back then. Haven't seen anyone spending any considerable hours on it for marketing purposes.
 
You can build a decent PBN from Tumblr though. (Tier 2 Link Juice, or even tier 1 if you count in some metrics)
 
over than a year, i gave up the use tumblr due to inactivation of my following channels, so its really sad and remain like other old friends..
 
Tumblr was good to me back in the old days...Bought myself a flat with those earnings! Tumblr + Adbrite = €€€€€€€€
 
Tumblr is not very good any more as there aren't many users with buying intent (people who have money and will spend it)

Since the porn ban, the people who still post on it have no money. Therefore you can't sell them anything

With any network, people always think "I want X views!", "it is easy to grow!" or "is this popular"? The questions they should ask:
1 - do these users have any money
2 - will they buy anything?

A million dead leads is a waste of time, 0 dead leads is better as that mailing list is just as dead but costs less rental to maintain
 
i can see people still having green online status on tumblr. Dead? Really? Those are zombies in a zombie platform?
