Is Tiered Link Building Still Effective in 2026?

It no longer works - at least in the way people think. If you automate t2 and t3 hoping to pass link juice, most links won't even get indexed. If you build an extremely high quality backlink and then build backlinks to t1 from high authority & niche relevant sites, it works. However, it's too costly and most people prefer to send these high quality backlinks to money site instead of a third party site. That's the reason, it still works. The old school strategy of using software to bulk generate t2 & t3 backlinks would be counterproductive.

I agree that the days of blasting spammy lower tiers are mostly over. If you're going to use tiered links now, keeping the content relevant across all tiers seems to be the key to avoiding penalties. It takes more effort to set up properly, but it definitely still moves the needle when done right.

Back in the day you could blast tier 2 and 3 links and see quick gains now that same approach is often hurts flags your domain.

Building links to links used to boost rankings faster. Are tiered strategies still working or losing impact?
Tiered links still work, but impact is weaker now. Works best for indexing/support, not direct ranking boosts. Keep tiers clean and relevant—spam tiers get ignored or can hurt.
