Okay, I just registered an expired domain. I think it's really great, I was surprised to find in available to register. That's why I'm a bit sceptical about it, if it's really that good, how come no one else registered it.

About the domain:

Adult niche
.com
TF / CF: 17
Majestic shows 101 backlinks from 18 RDs

Here comes the biggest of them all:
50,000+ exact phrase keyword searches in Google

This domain MUST be worth something, right?
Or am I missing something?
I'm new to this so if someone could please give their advice, it'd be great

Did I make a mistake in registering this domain?

My primary motive behind buying it was to flip it!

One more thing. It's an emd of a big niche in porn!

That is weird and highly unlikely in my opinion. I suggest you check the web archive and screenshot history of the website:

https://web.archive.org/
http://research.domaintools.com/research/screenshot-history/

It looks as it should. Full of niche related porn videos. Like a normal porn website.
The thing that surprises me the most is that its an emd of a big niche in porn. Like say 'homosexualporn.com' something like that for a different, sort of related niche.

Just set up an affiliate site or whitelabel that is targetted to the niche and track traffic and conversions and see for yourself if it is good

I'm not interested in developing a site for the domain. I just bought it because I thought it'd be profitable to flip it.

Are you sure that its not penalized by google?

I will ask you one simple question: When you wanna watch some porn, you google search for a keyword or you go straight to Pornhub/Youporn/whatever?

A domain bought expired means that is like a new one. Just if you bought on action will be the old one with all history. All links will vanish. Check on who is if you have an old domain or a fresh new one.
You must also check if is indexed, if have some pages indexed and you must check on google webmaster tools if you have some warnings.
You have 15% chances to be ok if you don't know all that already.

I don't get what you're trying to say. I mentioned it has 50000+ monthly searches according to google, so evidently people are searching the keyword.
If you mean to say the domain is worth nothing just because people who're looking for some kind of niche porn would head straight to pornhub, well then even something like electricshaver.com is worth nothing according to you, right coz people looking for electric shavers will go straight to amazon or whatever. But I see people paying a lot of bucks for something like electricshaver.com

I didn't say it's worthless, just not seeing too much value in it.

But still it has to be worth something just on the strength of its name. An emd with 50000+ searches. Actually I'd be relieved if as you said it had no history since then there'd no chance of it being penalized.

Bullshit.

I doubt it has any significant value.

When it comes to ranking, emd means close to nothing nowadays.

An expired domain means expired!!! Expire everything...
Maybe you don't know what you say.

Ok, tell me on who is if it was first registred before you bought.

Emd with a good backlink profile and TF-CF 18. Still worth nothing?

Now I believe you!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

And yeah of course, expired domains are worthless and @Nargil sells shit all day long on BHW and all the people who build PBNs on expired domains will never rank anything.

Even if the links are clean the backlink profile makes it worth 15$ maybe. Don't know about the name tho.

You didn't buy any expired domain...technically an expired domains means a NEW domain.
"Expired domains" wich you can buy after the old registrant didn't pay will still be NOT expired just for some period of time and you can buy on actions or something similar.
Technically corect is that no expired domain can have any SEO value.

When you buy something like "an expired domain" is a game luck with multople risks...

Do you even know what you're saying? Maybe you should spend more here at BHW. Have you ever heard of PBNs?
