Ethics aside, is there a way to export emails from mailchimp without seeing an export in the export history? I have legit access to the account.

Info:
Its over 50k emails
Only 10 show per page from what I can tell.

My ideas:
  • Screenshots (seems labor intensive)
  • Some sort of scraper?

I wouldn't normally consider something like this but the owner of the account is unwilling to take my (paid for) advice and she is not monetizing the list nearly as much as she could. If she's not willing to do it, I will. I can bring these people more value.

Any ideas would be appreciated. Thanks

Legal access to the list is one thing, ownership and freedom to use it as your own are 2 different things.

Do you have freedom to use the list as you want or is it not really owned by you?

What if I know they didn't get it legally? I know two wrongs don't make a right, but they wouldn't be able to sue me or report me to anyone.

They hired me to help them and fucked me over after I wrote ton of emails and setup automation by not paying me.

However, to answer your question, I don't own this list. Don't know who does truthfully.

I suspect you are being given a very valuable steer by BTB here.

yes you can take the list and use it but it can get you into a huge pile of poo.

firstly for taking the list, this can also burn your reputation as iirc you said it was a client. steal from me and I would destroy you.

secondly ICAN. do you have permission from the recipient to mail them. no you don't. this is where the real legal problems can begin. and this is where a lawyer would be better placed to tell you about the consequences, but it could be severe

by not paying me.

In your initial post you did not mention not paying you; you said "paid advice".

Either way, if it is not yours I would not mess with it, and forgetting ethics as you asked, there could be seed emails in there to see if the list was compromised by a party that did not have legit access to use it.

I'm not sure you want to fight that war.

Agree with you all. Will take the moral high road here. Thanks for the input
