Are you kidding me? You don't understand why people charge more than 3$ per 500 words?!? That's less than people charge on Fiverr for crying out loud! That's .60 cent per 100 words! Would you work for that much? I take it you've never translated anything, have you? Getting the spelling right is one thing.. getting the wording right is something different. I'm bilingual myself, and when I translate stuff for my own use (or for friends etc) it takes a hell of a lot longer than writing content in either language!

You get what you pay for, and that sure as hell won't be quality! Use google translate...

I am sure you are aware you always get what you paid for. You pay peanuts you end up hiring monkeys doing your translations... No one will provide a quality service for a next to nothing fee. If you dont want to pay the right price for it, I would stick to Google Translate, you wont get much better than that for pennies. Just my 2 cents.

Translation can be costly if you don't want to sound like you took it from a robot. I have had good experiences with a company which starts with g, just type in "cheap paid translation." However, their languages are limited and from the pricing it looks like they pay their translators slave labor prices! Though in my city the translation firms charge a lot and still pay low, so there might not be much of a difference...
