I have been through two and would suggest them to anyone. Yes they look nice but they also hold up great. I have had many friends who use HP or dell and sony just doesnt tend to have the heating issues in my experience. I dropped my first one and the manufactures warranty covered someone coming out and bringing a new hd free which was fantastic.
I moved on to an ASUS with my current laptop but thats because I wanted a bargain system I could also game on.
vaio is one of the best and most reliable lapi i have seen
i am using a 17.4 " desktop replacement lapi and it works killer
price around 1200$

just to add to Do Not Buy List: Emachines, Gateway, HP never ever except for switches
and as far as the toshiba HDD goes...Sony doesn`t make HDD and Toshiba Hard drives are pretty good.
i have bought Sony Vaio NR series Laptop like a month ago and the only thing what am not happy with the is battery timing which is although ok 2.00 Hours on High Performance and and 2.50 on Powe Saver Else then that it works like a charm my Bro has Dell he told me its just like crap so if you have enough Money go with Sony plus not many people have it so yeah
arh hell no, never buy a Sony Vaio - I have one and its the worst piece of SHIT i ever touched. Worse than acer man :/ My vaio electricutes me from the usb ports, line out is broken half and 50 other crappy things. The worst part is that sony dont want to fix it even when i have a guarantee :/
Am using a Sony Vaio now since my brand new desktop PC is busted up...
I'd definitely recommend a Sony Vaio yeah. They're reasonably priced, are quite durable and never had any problems with this one. The only thing that I don't like about mine is battery life.
I've had a Sony Vaio for 3 years.. when I first got it the screen died after about a week. Sony sent some guy to replace it.. Has been fine ever since.
I run mine 24/7 doing tasks (video streaming and stuff) with it closed and upside down so it is as cool as possible.
I run realvnc on it so I don't even have to open it.
They are a little overpriced but I am happy with mine.
