yes, I have one and has not failed. And I've dropped it a few times. I just keep it elevated so it cools properly. I also have a gateway laptop that is 6 years old and it hasn't failed (knock on wood). So maybe it just depends on how you take care of your laptop. However I have heard stories of lemons:-(
It's a good laptop as noted above. I just replaced mine with a Toshiba though and recommend a Toshiba or Asus over it, but it does depend on what you are going to be using it for. I liked mine for portability's sake, but now having the Toshiba, I realize that I don't like the short cords (that is, on the Sonys) or how quickly it would overheat (just how I used it). I have owned two Vaio laptops in my life and I'll say they are good, but don't buy them just on name alone. Besides, with the money you save on spending less, you can afford to upgrade an already decent (and at times better) laptop to even better.
personally , i swear by them, that the only laptop i have ever owned and will ever own, i own 3 now, and in the past have had 4 others, an ex got ahold of one. brother stole the other and the other 2 were just getting old so i replaced them with the 3 i have now,
You can get much better for the price! I recommend an Acer high performance laptop insead of VAIO because they are way overpriced. Look on newegg.com, usually they have some great deals.
If its "Sony vaoi" then its probably a chinese fake If its "Sony Vaio" Then Its Too Expensive (like all other sony products) but yeah the quality is good
Sony Z - The first computer in 10 years thats pleased me with performance. 1080p Screen 13' Dual Graphics i7 8gb DDR 512Gb Quad SSD GPS/3G 8 Hours of Power 3lbs - 1 inch Thick. Its all kinds of good.
Not the question, but for anyone reading, don't buy an HP laptop. My children have had several and each and everyone over heats. It's the only laptop I know that you can't use on your lap!!
i've bought one to my lil sis a few months ago, no problem with it so far, it works as it should Code: http://www.sony.co.uk/product/vn-e-series/vpcec1m1e-wi i'm using a Toshiba Tecra since 3,5 year and it's also still working fine without any problem
I have sony vaio and I had great experience with it. Im doing my coding and travelling a lot with it. I think its a bit overpriced though but the quality is great. Im trying HP now and I bought HP Touchsmart TM2 yesterday and what I immediately noticed is the temperature, my sony have better cooling system.
I have owned Dell, HP, Toshiba, mac and love the vaio above all the rest. Yes it is a bit more (a few hundred dollars). But so what if you are going to keep it for a year or two. Besides if you are depending on your computer to run your business from, does it make sense to save a few bucks (but increase your frustration)?
You forgot to add your life savings! And you can get hella better specs for that price. But probably not a better design
