My roommate and I was thinking about creating websites, get it ranked, seo, good quality articles and get it to generate $10 a month and then flip it for about $100 - $150.

Is this still alive? I mean, we have a website now that is making around $1.50 a week via AdSense and that's not consistent. The website has targeted traffic from twitter pages... but the niche is about "LIFE" more so of a blog to be exact... I mean we are not taking it serious but was thinking of adding a quote section... don't know though.

But just wanted to know is site flipping or even domain flipping is dying ?

I mean because just like when investors or even regular people who buy damaged properties that are dirt cheap... they spend some cash to repair the property then rent it out...

Well, isn't that the same with site flipping "REAL ESTATE".... but much cheaper and you will have to put more "TIME" than money into a website....

    No.

All it takes is some business sense, a plan, and the funds to outsource the technical work to various outlets.

As long as you can buy something and improve it, flipping will exist.

Of course as in anything else, the easiest way to make money is to have it in the first place.

My first flip was a great looking site that I bought for a couple hundred bucks that had a few visitors per day and wasn't being monetized. I bought it and outsourced a little SEO work and set up Adsense and was pulling in about $70 a month. I sold it for $500 3 months later.

And that is the easiest $250 i've ever made.

With all the promotions Flippa has been having, I wonder if they're having trouble... idk...

To me, it still seems silly to sell something that makes $50 a month for $500 or $1000. Might as well just hold on to it.

I don't think investing in content, domain, design for $100 will be worth it. Quality content is worth that much alone.

You can flip sites but I would assume the TAT would be 6 months to 1 year on sites. Big G seems to be taking longer to rank new sites.
There are workarounds but a matter of another post.

On top of that you would have to have systems in place for spam link building or a PBN place to rank your sites.

Try to focus on building an authority site.

Find money keywords in your niche, build content around them - get keyword density right and focus on on-page.

Start building your PBN, or guest post or buy links from HQ PBN

Flipping as such is certainly not dead and never will be, however it's important to distinguish between the flipping of actual, revenue generating properties and building short-term, unsustainable cr*p to sell it off to a gullible newbie.

The few people in the world who have the knowledge and expertise to do actual flipping, i.e. buying a good (but perhaps under-monetised or otherwise mismanaged) asset, hold on to it and improve it for at least a year, and then exit at a much higher price still make good money.

But where things have changed is at the lower end, where it isn't overly feasible any longer to buy a $100 template, build some spammy links to it and then sell it off for $500 in a few months before it dies -- which the seller obviously knows it will, or otherwise they wouldn't sell it off at a <1 year valuation in a few months after starting to see some revenue.

Flipping is not dead, but your numbers are waaaay off. 10$ per month and selling for 100-150$? Don't bother, the sale fees and commissions will cut into any profit you may be able to generate and the general trend is towards buying more and more established properties.

Try to create sites that make over $1,000+ per month then think how to sell them.

With a thread on the first page here about earning over a million in revenue from site flipping I don't see why this post even exists.

    No, it is not dead.

I sell sites that haven't generated a penny for more than $100-150 regularly. Crap is in the eye of the beholder. If someone has no technical skills, it can cost more to get a site of that quality built and set up. I wouldn't sell the site either if it was already producing money and paying its way.

Why don't you just scale the site up and keep the earnings for yourself?

This. All that work for $100? Between all the fees and work, you'd be working backwards.
