SEO will never die it will merely change and adapt and so should we. It's basically like saying that the Dewey Decimal Classification system used in libraries is dead. In the 136 years it has been in place there has been numerous changes to it (23 major ones the most recent in 2011) but it is still used daily as it is an efficient and effective system, the same goes for SEO. granted it is not exactly the same it is very similar.

The next update according to me is "Zebra" because google updates are all black and white. First Panda then Penguin now its Zebra......
And to the OP, I don't know whether SEO is dead or not, but people posting these kind of threads and saying discuss will surely be DEAD one day. :sucks:

The barrier to entry actually already has gone up and continues to go up year by year.. You used to be able to just throw up a page with 200 words hitting ur kw then grab some spamming software, didn't really matter what it was, autopligg, blog commenting, xrumer or whatever and just blast and blast the kw, and you'd be #1 in a week. It would last for months. Usually a doorway page or whatever. Huge spam links worked like gold. You didn't have to do anything really to get rank.

SEO will never die only some algorithms will keep on changing you just need to make sure you stick to your basics.
