I, on the other hand, think, while its implications are huge and could really restructure the search engine ecosystem, it probably won't take down google or the SEO. Google is not just some small company to just give up at the very first obstacle you know. and I have a feeling that they knew this was coming because they had their own chatbot too. Then, the people perhaps didn't expect it was going to be released to the public wide welcome, which might have caught google off guard. But even then, it is NOT being adapted fast enough to move to google out of business. Plus, the chatbot is not new, there was this tool or AI that Sartre uses, or used developed by one of those top universities, I cant remember the name of it now. but it was open-source and widely available to the public too, way before chatbot, in fact, there is not just one, there were a few when I did the research. So, there actually are more chatbots than you know at the moment. Also, chatgpt is not available in every country, while google is. Another advantage is that google not only is present but services those locales by customizing the serps. Anyways, the comparison table could be a long one, but you get the idea, they both don't serve the all the same purpose, quite similar but different too, and perhaps won't ever be like that.
thus, they both could remain and be popular at the same time, which is what I am leaning to believe
