If what you are trying to promote is something that will interest the Reddit community and doesn't come off as just another lame spam attempt it could have huge potential. There have been people that have hit the front page of Reddit and made a KILLING. However, the only way to get there is to have some content that the Reddit users are actually going to be engaged in. They smell bs from miles and miles away. You can't just walk in and drop a link and expect miracles to happen.

Reddit traffic is very hard to monetize.

I just use it to build back-links as

Reddit is a PR8 I believe.


Include Reddit into your SEO efforts.



Nothing more.

Early Reddit traffic was great. Since 2 or 3 years it's been total crap. The traffic does not convert, lots of redditors have adblock on, they have a anti-ad culture there.

NOW if you could target some specific subreddits, it may be good traffic. In the main subreddits like technology and worldnews, I've got #1 posts a few times and the traffic was absolute shit. But it may be better in a specific place like truck owners or travel or so on, there's a subreddit for everything so if you can hit #1 on a specific one, you may do good.

Reddit users are generally tech savvy and can spot bad content a mile away. If you can get traffic it's good, but I would say it is below average if I had to rate it.

Not for adsense or banner ads - many of them have Adblock installed. But it is a good source if you sell a product on your site.

Agree 100% about Reddit being frustrating to deal with. My most viewed blog post ever received over 1/4 million page views after another Reddit user posted the link on Reddit. Between Adsense and and affiliate links I made over $400 that day. Needless to say I was thrilled. I opened my own Reddit account and tried to replicate that success (or even a tiny sliver of it) but it never happened. Totally bummed about Reddit.

Reddit traffic itself may not be high quality but it's a great base to make something go viral, plenty of bloggers and news sources check reddit so if your site is relevant and very high quality you can end up getting links from plenty of other sources as a result.

Well, traffic you receive from reddit is targeted, since you must post your link on a relevant subreddit.
If done right, it can pay off.

Well, it depends what kinda niche You have, some niches are fine, but if you plan make money with ads, then it could be waste of time.

Reditt is equal to stumbleupon in my view. I had used both of them in the past and they send traffic like a bot traffic. My suggestion is to test by yourself and see if the traffic converts into $$$ or not.
