I've used prweb service several months ago. I got unnatural link warning for that website as well. So do I need to remove those prweb links as well before send the reconsideration request?

Kkvsam,

Yes you will want to get these links disassociated with your site somehow or the same issue will happen again. Or Google will just deny your reconsideration request.

I had a colleague approached recently about using marketing services that included press release distribution through PRweb. Is that similar to the service you used? He declined to go with the service citing concerns about the distribution of press releases with a link to his website in them.

In my view, there are two things wrong with that service in terms of SEO. One: They are promoting a value proposition that your content get distributed to thousands of media outlets with links to your website contained in content however this is exactly the type of behavior that Google has been combating with recent updates. If you were to look at the data on a graph, you would see an instant and dramatic rise in the number of inbound links to your site; a red flag that you are manipulating results. Two: The service gives you no opportunity to vary your anchor text when these articles are distributed. So, instantly you have hundreds of websites that have inbound links to your site with the same anchor text.

Check out this post on SEOMoz about surviving the unnatural link warning,

Hope you can get it turned around,

And also if I buy home page links, (Actually they are advertisement) do I need to remove them as well before send the reconsideration?

Kkvsam,

I think if there are any links that you think are causing issues it would be wise to remove them before sending the request.

I just wanted to add to what I wrote above about press releases. These remain a great way to get exposure for a brand and I don't recommend avoiding them entirely. My comments mainly pertain to link building. Sending out a press release is a great way to get in front of a lot of eyes with the backlink being sort of a "bonus". So if you are doing press releases without links it would be great for your business/website to get them in as many places as possible, just be careful when there are links included in the release as a sudden spike in anchor text (that is all the same phrase) or links in general can do more to harm your site than help it.

Hope that makes sense,

Shawn
