I believe the official numbers were that 96% ends up broke eventually, the ones that don't are the bigger investment banks.

options trading is a go big or go home game - when a stock moves 1% an option can move well over 100%....

quite frankly it's one of those things that if you have to ask a question like that, you're probably going to lose money on it....

You are interested in being broke..?
Can't remember the source, i remember those numbers were given out by one of the big dutch brokers a year ago or so.

If you want a realistic answer, i can tell you you will have a 99.99% chance of blowing all your money within days/weeks, judging by your question, especially considering your budget is EXTREMELY small, think 20 - 40K for a more realistic starting budget.

I have been in the stock market for the past 8 years :) I am becoming gradually interested in online option trading
I can afford to lose 200$ :) Its fine... we are talking about 25$ investments at a time... that gives me 8 investments

Are you talking about binary options?
If so, you shouldn't need more than 30 seconds to figure out the ods are EXTREMELY against you. It's not even 50/50, not even close.

Well i myself do share trading and also options and futures. Well doing options is ofc risky.. if you loose u will loose the entire premium money that you paid.

What i suggest is you should join a good singal providing website first. If you follow what they tell you then there is 90-95% chance for you to win.

if you need some info then pm me back

Have you traded before? You need to understand the dynamics of the stock market first before moving to options.

Do you understand options' delta, gamma, thetha, etc or does that sound Greek to you? (pun intended)

EDIT: Just saw that you've traded for the past few years.

Option trading can be very profitable as long as you know what you are doing. A friend of mine makes a good living just doing option trading. I had him teach me, it was a bit overwhelming. You'll have to do research to find the right option to trade. Good luck to you.

If you are really experienced in stock market (I think that because you said you've been in stock market for 8 years), you will know that $200 is a very small money. If you are really experienced in stock market, you will know the answer..

Options is a derivative form of stock, so first you need to have a skill to predict the underlying stock's trend. Then you have to choose the right options based on its delta, theta etc.

Since you will just throw your $200, I suggest you to try it but you have to know how to predict the trend (this is the most important) and be patient (why be patient? Because 20 percent profit of $200 is just $40, and you cannot expect an extraordinary return like 300 percent consistently)..

Many stock traders start trading options after they can make money consistently in stock market.. Novice traders are not recommended to try options.

    True.. its a bit overwhelming
I know that 200$ is a small amount, but I see it as a good amount for a shot in the dark..... I will keep throwing in small amounts like this until I get a sense of the game

Don't do that, try virtual trading.. For a good options you would need $200 for 1 contract.. $25 per investment means the price is $0.25/ options.. Most of those cheap options are "out of money put/call" and have a low delta.. Probably you will end up losing your money because of its small price movement and it is possible to expire worthless..

    Just my 25 cents..

Yes option trading can be profitable, for a very small minority of those who try it. The vast majority of those who attempt to trade any financial instrument will not be profitable. (When I say "trade", I am referring to something distinct from "investing".) It takes years to become a competent trader. Any outfit that would let you trade with only 200 dollars in capital is going to be kind of sleazy. That said, you only have 200 bucks to lose so go ahead and try it out and learn something. Most likely what you will learn is that you don't want to trade options.

Options can only be profitable if you could somehow predict the trend of where the stocks going. Personally I think there's a lot of money to be made in options trading, you can google and learn about different option trading strategies to limit your loss.
