I have a website in the quotes niche targeting very high volume, low competition and low cpc keywords (Majority Indian traffic). It is over 6 months old and was getting over 20k visits per day(though I was earning very less). A couple of weeks back I saw a drop on few keyword positions and thought it is normal. I checked up with ahrefs to see if everything was fine. Everything seemed normal. Then I took a look at the search console. There I found that there are over 34k backlinks from a single chinese domain. There were a few porn sites too. When I visited the urls specified in search console, there were no links to my website. I don't know how it is possible. I searched the internet and found that many big websites like searchenginejournal, seoroundtable claim that negative seo is a thing of the past. I have disavowed the entire domain(including the porn sites) but search console is still indexing new links from that same chinese domain and my rankings are still dropping. Please suggest on if negative seo is still a thing? If yes then recommend someone who can clean up this mess.

A snapshot from my search console.

image is broken too me i cant see the image.

1. disavow the links.

2. if you are building hq backlinks and continue posting good content then you are showing google that you are legit and hq

3. dont use overly used pbn links and dont use spun articles.

4. include images with alt tags and relevant videos in your articles

5. make wikipedia backlinks from your site to wikipedia about relevant topics to show google you are posting relevant information

when you do 1 - 5 then you will rank... EASILY with low to medium comp. kw's

With my experience, I can say that your competitors can use this against you by blasting comments or negative links.

However, you can completely disavow the backlinks from the spammy domain.

Request this directly from webmaster tools and it will help.

It really looks like you are under a neg-SEO attack.

And yes, it is definitely still a thing in 2019 and it's not going anywhere.

Image is broken for me but anyway...

Looks like disavow is the way to go here. It can take some time to take effect and even more time to recover rankings.

Do they link to the homepage?

Has anybody ever managed to recover + regain rankings by disavowing?
In my opinion disavowing is a waste of time.

i've seen with my eyes people doing neg seo attack and after the attack the website rised in positions so idk xD

Yep, seen multiple people spammed with child porn and viagra anchors still ranking number #1 for head terms, since they have a strong link profile
