Hey everyone,

My dad is new to the internet.

He says he met a girl online and she is coming to live with him, FROM AFRICA!!!

He's in Canada.

He says he just recently found out she is a princess and her father left her a bunch of gold for the man she loved, this man apparently being him.

Now she is APPARENTLY detained at the airport in Ghana, Africa because authorities found this gold and she is looking at a 2 year prison sentence.......

Im guessing there is going to be some amount of "bail money" requested and I hope my dad is smart enough to not send it after already sending money for her plane tickets.

Her name is apparently "Selina Sharnel Appiah" from Ghana.

If anyone knows anything or if the person pretending to be her is on this forum please be honest and let me know.

My father is very sick and really doesnt need something this stressful.

Thanks BHatters

D

That girl is probably me LOL... jk :)

Seriously this is a very common scam..... I would say, he should call her and talk to her... IF he has never called/talked to her on the phone.

Any ways, if she claims to be detained at the airport, get the number online to the air port and ask to speak with the security then you can see if they are really detaining her or if its a scam.

Poor sucker for love :)

Yes this is a scam. Track the mails from the person you have received, they must be sent from african IP. I daily receive 10-15 mails like this, they all are scam. Don't get into all these things Coz they don't have any gold or big bank balance. Just think is she had so much of gold and money, then WHY WOULD SHE BE LIVING IN AN AFRICAN COUNTRY AND A COUNTRY WHICH IS KNOW FOR CRIMES, ROBBERY and rape cases. It's a 3rd world country with only poor people living in it.

Don't get into all these things Coz at the end you will just regret on tour decisions.

Owning gold is illegal and is a reason to get arrested.. lol! If you dad sends a dime, he deserves to be scammed for being so gullible.

He met her on some chat, they talk on the phone and since he's almost 60 he's convinced this is real even though I tell him its not.

I just don't know what to do with him now.

Just think, If any one who has a lot of money and is rich will go to a third world nation ?
If I or even you were on that place you wouldn't prefer to go to a place like that, for sure.

Don't be ignorant, there are many people in 3rd world countries pulling numbers you would not even imagine.

Just do a quick search in google "mansion in africa" and you will see some of them.

A lot of people are living under the bread line in the 3rd world but, that not to say everyone is poor there and that only poor people live there.

That would be like saying only wealthy people live in the west, and we both know there are many living hand to mouth and on the streets there so.

Me and selena will be together, I just have to help her raise money to pay off a bunch of fines she owes in the US, then she can come stay with me and we can raise a family together.

If your the father of the OP and your truly 60 years old, I'm sorry to say you most likely cant start a family.

I'm getting this scam messages in yahoo and hotmail messengers almost everyday. Ask your dad to stop chatting with her and read this http://www.romancescam.com/blog and http://www.romancescam.com
