I am looking for a new laptop or pc. I am just undecided. Is it really worth it to spend money on a MacBook Pro or air? I’d like them, because I like apple products, but it seems really high priced ...

I like mine - it has some minor ticks to it and I've got to take it in for an oil change and lube job but it is a nice machine.

I use 2 Windows PCs, a Windows desktop and a Mac Book Pro for various reasons during the day but I prefer the Mac.

Work on both, Apple really is for simplicity and design. VERY expensive to replace parts, keyboards etc. The battery wears down constantly and aside from being thinner haven't really improved specs in years. But I have 2, one is a Macbook, looks nice for presentations, one very large Mac for design work which I find so much easier to work with the UX. Then 2 PCs, much higher spec, gaming ones to run programs. Also cheaper!

How about a reconditioned Mac/ Macbook? Main thing to look at is the battery, a decent Apple replacement by a third party isn't bad.

  • If you like graphics and outside design deffinetly mac is the choice.
  • For speed is Linux and Lenovo for example, they get some real beasts.

In my eyes Apple is useless. To expensive for Hardware that not cost like this. You overpay for the Logo.

I am practically looking to start my online hobby again with building websites, etc.. While I am on a pc, I start playing and wasting time... that’s why I would like an laptop...

For the moment would be used mainly for browsing and light work as install stuff on WordPress websites etc. maybe use it for my business too to show presentations.

which one would you guys recommend?

Well it is up to you. If its light work then anything really. Can you not just stop yourself or uninstall the games??!

Mac? No! Iphones? May be.

I am a heavy user nevertheless. I use one mac machine at my work sometimes, but other than that; windows (and the ability to build custom hardware for cheap) rules, in terms of productivity.

Didn't you have many problems with your Mac keyboard? :P

My setup is similar to yours, however I'd rather go with Windows most of the times - depends on the activities though, but in the end it comes down to personal preferences, needs and if they overweigh the cost.

Yeah, I've had issues with the keyboard but I do use it outside much more than inside and it gets dirty.

Hence the reason it needs a lube, oil and filter.

Other than that I love that little piece of equipment + I got free apple stickers and who does not like free stickers?

Just checked my windows pc is 10 years old and I’ve done nothing to it. Maybe is time for an upgrade.

I spent more money on replacing keyboards then the original cost of the Macbook! Now it has a plastic covering!

Ah, one other plus side of Macs - I find the screen easier on the eyes.
