Is "Long Tail Keyword" Dead?

KGR is still going strong, long tails are still going strong. Yes, it's important to write more on topics vs long tails, BUT, it all depends on search intent.

You have to take KGR further and do manual checks. I wouldn't take a KGR that was a different way of saying a term or different order of words. The best KGR/LTK are ones like best soccer shoes for indoor turf (not a KGR but an example of what I'd look for). Or something like best x under $100. It has a clear search intent that doesn't really get answered by its parent term (e.g. best x).

Yes. Once the niche is thoroughly researched and you have chosen a specific customer to sell to in that niche, long tail keywords are the easiest way to deliver organic traffic. The key is to find a customer in the niche first. Then do keyword research. The term "best x" is the parent term/niche. The terms "best soccer shoes for indoor turf" and "best x under $100" are specific customers in that parent term/niche.

Yes, you're right. Niche selection is the biggest factor in whether you succeed or not. There is still plenty of easy low comp. niches out there.

long taill keyword will never dead ever ,

I'm getting a brain aneurysm reading some replies on here. Do people actually think long tails don't work anymore? If anything, they work the most with content alone.

Humans never stop searching “LongTail Keywords” on google. So LongTail keywords live...

I think it's just become more difficult over time with long tail keywords because so many people have created websites and written articles targeting the same keywords over the years. I mean, if people started targeting long tail keywords in 2014, they've had 5 years or so to create articles around long tail keywords, making the competition of the keywords increase.

That's not the problem. The problem is Google going semantic and shit and promoting brands to the top for those keywords.
That’s right, google always provide extra value/priority to Brands.

In my personal opinion It's not as easy as it was, but I heard from my SEO buddies that they are still making moneys from it.

Its not dead.. but even if you manage to rank somehow it wont last for long until brands start to rank for the same keywords. Then, there is little you can do, usually such domains have huge authority and get love from Google so no matter how many links you throw guest posts, pbns in most cases it wont help much.

That's the point. Eventually brands will outrank you due to their DA and there's little you can do about it. You can go and build links through PBN etc to your pages but again you can't do that for 100s or 1000s of keywords just to outrank a brand that ranks with 0 PA.

Long tail keywords will always work, as people will never stop searching for specific things they need answered. So long as you write good content about these long tail keywords, you're safe. My main traffic and focus on content has always been long tail since more than 10 years and still works perfectly. What's the alternative? Spend thousands of dollars to rank for competitive keywords?
